I actually haven't read what you wrote so i will answer by what you put for subject.NO,you don't have to be number one in any search angine to have a succeful website.The term "success" is defined by how your business is going.If you didn't even submit your site but promoted it well and have good business,with income>money given(depts? forgot the word) then you have a succeful website and a succeful business.NOW,what will you do from here,making it better having more customers and more income,is a different subject.It's common sense
NOTE:although a succeful website is defined by these things,indeed,getting at top 10 of any popular search engine is something you should do for your website for it to be........COMPLETE.So,the answer to your question is yes and no actually.It depens on how YOU define .......SUCCESS
