A virus can cause this... so can a too full hard disk or hitting sector 0 on your hard drive. A failing motherboard can also cause this. Usually it will also give you a KERNAL Fault as well. To diagnose.. what are you doing when it occurs?

Run system tools, checkdsk to fix formatting errors and then run defrag after you have run a virus check. If the problem persists.. save all the informatin you can off your hard drive to disk.. and boot in safe mode. Try reinstalling windows without formatting. If none of these solve the error, then reinstall windows with full format. If these dont work its most likely new computer time, but take it in for a checkup to see.
