I think you mean how to ensure that someone can gain access to your PDF file, so you can make it available on your site?

If so I battled with this too, but had to sweat thru the tutorial on FTP - check out the Blue FTP tutorial, 2nd from last in BV I think. It seems like an impossible task when you get started but you have to just hang in there and ask questions and it slowly gets clearer...

so all I can say is check out the tutorial!!
