    Default Re-sizing images

I'm not sure what size to choose when re-sizing images. Is there a "rule of thumb" to follow?

    Thanks

Basically the only rule is to keep the same pixel ratio. If you are resizing an image that is 500x200, and need it to fit in a 200xwhatever space, make the image size 200x80

Thanks Watdaflip. I think I was absent the day they taught ratios...

Seriously though, that makes sense. Will give it a try. Thanks pal!

How big you make them isn't as important as how dense they are.. Typically I will resize a picture to fit the place I want it to go, using the free pizresizer that Voda provides.
Then I run it through this http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/imageoptimizer/index.php online optimizer, which shows you what it looks like at different densities or resolution.. I choose the best looking one with the least density..
    make sense?

What imaging editing program are you using?
I use Picasa, another free download, easy peasy editing. When you resize with pix resizer it asks - maintain aspect ratio? and if you say yes you will be fine..
