Thread: I need help in creating new pages

I'm a vodahost customer, my domain name is schoenfarms, my client ID# is 19192.
I watched the tutorial about how to add new pages to the website. I created the index page with .bvp the other pages I created in the website are .html; my question is do I need to save the other pages as .bvp or I just leave them the way they are right now. When I open my bluevoda file it opens only the bvp files, so I have to choose all files in order for the other pages to appear. Is that normal?

You need to save all your pages with simply the page name - for example you saved your index page as index. You would save your other pages by the name for the - so page2, page3, or xyz, zyx, etc. That saves them as .bvp

They become html or php (depending on which you select in page properties) when you PUBLISH them.

so right now i dont need to save them as html until I publish the website?

As bethers says, your pages are saved by their name with the file extension .bvp - the free blue voda software does the conversion to html for you when these pages are published ...

I want to preview my site but when I click the preview botton the picture does not show

Which picture? An image you inserted via the insert image tool on the page? Just in case you have, you cannot copy and paste a picture onto the page ... The picture should show, unless you have since moved the image from it's original location ...

I also have another question, if I publish my website right now, will I be able to do changes in the future?

back to the picture question, I did insert a picture through the insert image tool on the page, did I do wrong? I'm not sure I understand what I should do instead

Oh yes, all of the .bvp files that you make remain on your computer (and should as well as you might consider having a back up of these as well, on a memory stick or even a cd) for you to reopen, make changes and republish - there is no limit and changes are immediate .. if you ever have any problem seeing immediate changes, refresh your browser ...

Reinsert the picture again - make sure the name of the image is good - meaning - a smaller type name - no spaces and no symbols ... rename the image if you need to .. sometimes this can be the problem - then resinsert the image as you have done .. you should see this image on preview - if you do not - log into your control panel and enable hot link protection for this domain ...

the image does not show when i try to preview. The image was inserted with the image tool on the page. How can I make it work?

And you tried all of this???

thank you I changed the name of the image and tried reinserting it. It worked this time. thank you very much for your help

Do I need to activate the website before I publish it, or does it activate by itself?

If you have a VH account, all you need to do is publish it using the correct IP address, etc.
