Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
blimey that easy! cheers for that :)
Can someone help me with the following problems: I would like to upload some musics to my site (directory ./musics) and I like to have a listing (dynamic listing) that will contain the up to date of the directory musics as new songs are being uploaded to it. I would like to make those songs available for the user to listen and download if they like. PLEASE show me how to do this, do I have to use a database for this? if I do, then what type of database? is that database available via VH? Please help me by start a conversation on this thread. Many thanks.
how do you do to have a LINK that takes you to the video? i dont want to put the video directly in the page since i dont have space...i need a link.
thanks
This is how I do it.
(Assuming that you already have your Youtube video on your site)
Open a new page. Place your Youtube box on it. (later you can add properties and info if you like, like title, etc.)
Open Page Properties.
Title the page.. perhaps the title of the video itself.. " Space Invasion "...
Save as...something like ....URL slot: http://www.yoursite.com/video1.html
Publish.
On the page I want the linking to commence forth I usually create a text link. Highlight, etc ... URL slot: the same as above
Save as ... the original save-name of the original page.
Publish
Now, if you click the text link on your original page, it will bring Youtube on in a new window. Start manually; to my knowledge autostart for Youtube is very complicated and not worth.
Good luck,
Gabor
Don't forget to create a BACK link! (or a " next " link)
thanks! it seems that that will work!
now, i have another question...should i create a folder called VIDEOS and then publish them to public_folder/videos ??? and what would be the final link? i will need that to follow the steps as described above...
im a little lost here... thanks!
Videos...sticky...
The most professional thing to do is to embed standalone vidplayers - but it's a major headache this time. But it's almost perfect. My advice: wait. If you want to spend weeks figuring it out and tear your hair ... I'll direct you to a thread that shows it.
To use BV's resident, nice videoplayers - and there are a number of them - will also pose problems - mostly downloading times (up to 8 minutes) and other headaches. THESE should be uploaded to public_html, but don't open a separate folder for them (as opposed to music mp3's).
My advice is to stay with Youtube. No headaches, you don't have to file/save them anywhere, they play from Youtube directly.
Just create a new page for each one you want to feature; either leave them on their respective pages or you can put any number of them on one page, just arrange them. (I guess this is why there's no autostart...)
What do you mean by "final link"? (Do you mean the "back" link?) Please describe in detail what you want to accomplish.
Peace,
Gabor
Gabor, thanks for your dedication...
what i meant was in case i had to upload the videos into a VIDEOS folder,
what woud be the final link. for example. www.domain/video/video1.html
but i guess now is not necessary since u suggest to upload them to the public folder...
i will let u know how it worked! (what u told me to do before...)
thank again!
You can't upload Youtube anywhere.
With other stuff... lotsa luck
(Hint: you do the uploading from your public_html directory, usin the "Upload Files" feature.)
