Default adding Rel"nofollow" tags to the page html

I want to add Rel"nofollow tags to the html of my pages to stop the robots crawling certain pages, how can i do this in bluevoda? I have tried using the html editer but that just makes a second copy of the page on top of the original. I would also like to add<h1> tags though i assum the answer to the first question will answer the second.
    My domain is www.gites-le-cedre.com

You would add it to the page html "between head tag".

However, if you just don't want the pages indexed, you would use the noindex tag instead.
I use the noindex tag for my test page....so far, so good...

Because if you use the nofollow tag, any page linked from that page will be nofollow also because of the link from the nofollow page.

As long as your site is not password-protected, your pages will be crawled (eventually) by any and all bots, regardless...because the head tags are only a means of showing your preferences for your site and do not "control" the actual bots that spider your site.

Would be helpful to understand the reason you need the nofollow tag, in order to help you achieve your goal...

To add <h1> tag to a text element, simply right click on the text box, choose HTML,.....
put <h1> in the before tag and put </h1> in the after tag.

Check this wiki out...scroll down to "Interpretation by the individual search engines" section...very interesting...
However, because it is a "wiki" I would check other sources...

I have added the no index code for all my produts pages and they have been crawled but never listed this the code I use and my sites have well over a hundred pages and one site has close to 300.
<meta name="robots"' content="noindex"> it works for me. Just put the code between the head on page html

Hi, if you want to stop certain pages being followed, you will have to do the links individually. If you place the code in the head it will tell the SE,s not to go to all pages.
A link like this should work.
    <a href= http://www.gites-le-cedre.com/pagenottofollow.html/ rel="nofollow">Text for url link link</a>
I think this can only be done with html with BV like the link above.

Thank you all for your quick response. I want to use the nofollow tag to stop the robot from leaving the site to follow an external link before it has completed crawling my site.you can see this in action by clicking on the header image at www.gite-le-cedre.com you will notice it takes you to google .com but if you look in the sourse code you will see the code for the image there twice plus it will only put up one change to the code, it simply deletes if I add on or if I add two together it ignores the second.
It may be that i will have to do it in an external editor. I am about to revamp the whole site to make it more search engine friendly so was hoping there was an answer to this problem. Trevor.G

Hi, the header link is not working? You can try the code below in a html box.
    <a href="http://www.google.com" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.gite-le-cedre.com/my&#37;20pictures%20063a.jpg" height=69 width=747 border=0></a>

Thanks Chris but unfortunatly is doesn't work as you can see www.gite-le-cedre.com besides there would be ugly boxes all over the page making it impossible to work on it. What it needs is a way of deleting the code from the top box of the Bv html editor and replacing it with the new amended code from the bottom half that way I could add the nofollow code as well add h1, h2, and h3 tags as well.' but so far it's got me baffled. The NO Follow wont stop the robot from leaving your site. What the tag does is tell the robot you dont vote for that site, or you dont take responsibility for that sites content. They will still harvest that link and save it for later.

If you have a links page and you put NO FOLLOW on it.. why bother to have a links page? The idea of trading links is then shot.. and I wouldnt bother trading links with you if you did that.

The no follow tag was designed to be used on blogs, wiki's etc who had no control over what posters/responders would link to etc etc. It really wasnt designed for your webpage. If you are really into SEO, and you put a link on your page.. and you are 'ashamed' of that link.. why PUT IT THERE? The SE do pick up on this as well, as well as improper use of the tag. And it doesnt belong in the head section but as a line item for a link.

If you dont want a page indexed and NONE of the links on there INDEXED then use the robot tag or a robots.txt properly.

Thanks Karen, yes you are correct on those pionts, I would not dream of putting a no follw tag on the links page but that the last page i want the robot to craw. The truth is i'm taking a course (allbeit unconventional) on SEO and the main thrust is controlling the LSI. that is i dont want the internal links page rank being bleed away by the robot leaving the site on a link, I apreciate the robot will still go but it wont take page rank with it. I'm no expert on this subject but the man running the course has a website that out ranks 2,000,000,000 other pages and if he says it works then unless someone can prove him wrong i feel i must follow his advise. As he puts it, its a question of taking the robot around your site in the order you want it to go, let it see,or more correctly piont out that which is important and to disregard that which is not. I appreciate it is not what the Nofollow tag was design for but it works just the same. It is not only the nofollow tag i want to adjust its the addition of h1 h2 and h3 tags to tell the robot what i think is important. I hope this claifies the reason a little. trevor.G

Hi, its working fine, all it needs is a right click & select move back a few times & set the html box to the same size as the image as a guide for placing, not forgetting to delete the old image.
Unfortunately, the top box is not available to edit, unless via the edit file in cpanel.

    Good luck.

Well .. I just proved him wrong.. improper use of the tag. Further.. hes teaching you a theory of supposedly FILTERING page rank by use of the nofollow tag.. again.. not what its intended purpose is. If you are studying.. then learn to think for yourself. If you follow this line of reasoning why create more than one webpage. Just put it all on one. Each page has the opportunity to garner its OWN page rank and be a landing page based on its own content. You cant control GOOGLE or the robots except by proper methods. Many SEO theories have come and gone including the improper use of tags.. for instance.. the keyword meta tag is almost not used by robots anymore to determine whats really on that page due to keyword stuffing and spamming.. same thing is happening with the NO FOLLOW tag. You also cant control what GOOGLE thinks is important.. no matter WHAT YOU think is, what you can do is operate within its guidelines. Any time you do something simply for the SE you end up hurting yourself. So.. if you put this page up for your customers/visitors..and you want them to use it and see it.. but you tell the robots with improper use of the nofollow tag not to see it or follow it, or that you dont vouch for it..and its on your site.. dont you think the google a**orythms can pick that up? hmmm.....who controls your site if you dont?... hmmmm....

If you dont want something to BLEED rank .. then dont LINK to it. If linked properly.. it can INCREASE your rank by being seen as VALUABLE information and asset to your viewers.
