Thread: Can't get certain images up

Hi Everyone,
I'm having great fun building my site and am quite proud of it even though it still looks bad, I need a lot more changes.
I'm having great problems trying to get certain images up, photos will go on my page no bother, they end with jpg but when I try to get images that end with jpg they don't appear.
Its the images that I really need at the moment.

Have you by any chance set up
hotlink protection in your Cpanel????

I'm not sure I understand the difference between photos and images - as both are images if they end in .jpg? Is the path correct to the image?

If I knew what you were on about I may be able to answer but I'm a complete novice here and don't have a clue.

How are you creating your photos on your nail.....page

At the moment if you click on either of the 2 very narrow lines you are taken to another page which shows a photo !!!!!!!!!!

I'm just getting a box with a red cross in that page when I view it, can you actually see a picture?
I haven't started on my nail gallery yet.
I want to change my template to put images down the sides of my page, this is why I need these images so I can start the changes.

Yes, on your nail page if you click one of the 2 vertical lines it will show a VERY Large picture.
I come back to my original question....How and where are you putting your
jpg´s/photos....?

I'm not seeing any pictures, all my pictures are saved in my images file in my documents, my photos are coming onto my pages but not the pictures I want.
I've tried all ways for the last day and can't do it, I'm getting so frustrated.
If I go to insert an image and browse for the pic I want displayed it comes up in the image box image not found but if I right click and go to properties it comes up with the photo name.

The question is HOW are you adding the images to the page. There are several methods to do so - and by us knowing how you are doing it, we could probably solve this!

Lets start with the basics......
you select "insert>image"
a box opens on your page and you go to where your picture/photo/jpg is stored on your computer..
You click the required pic and then you click on Open....

at this stage does the pic you selected appear on your page ?

photos I have saved do but not certain images, it comes up with a blank box with no image found.
i have managed to get 3 of my images up and have noticed because they are in the blue voda images file and open with blue voda.
So I figured if i opened the image and then right clicked it to open with bluevoda that would work but when i do that it says it s an enexpected file format.
I'm confusing myself now never mind anyone else.

The image HAS to be saved to either your computer or bv to come up this way. If you want an image to come up that is hosted on another site, you need to call it up with html - I think that might be what you're trying to do? But, better would be to save that image to your computer and follow the instructions above given by David.

The images are saved on my computer, in my images file.

Are you adding them to the page in the way David asked?

Sorry its took so long to get back, I've tried to put two pictures in my nail gallery page, when I right click on properties it comes up that there is something there but I can't see them.

I'm not sure why you would be right clicking on properties to find the picture? When you are in BV - do you see the pictures on the page? If you added them, they should be showing.

You should have clicked on the image icon, then found the picture you wanted, then placed it where you wanted it on the page, then do the same with the other, then publish.

The images that you want to place on your page have to be stored in the "Images" directory inside the Blue Voda directory.
If they are not, you will see the path to the images in Properties, but see only the white box with the red cross on your page.
Is this what you mean?

I repeat, you have two pictues on your nails page.

1) Blonde lady, with blue eyes, fairly naked with her wrists bound
with mauve tape.
2) another lady with a large hat covering most of her face and she is
wearing a black dress....

The problem is that you can only see them once you have clicked on the two
vertical lines that appear on your nails page.
The photos are huge so it looks as if you need to resize the image box or something like that......

Go back to the basics and you should be able to get this working........

David, I can't click on those lines, but I do see those in view source - looks like she needs to resize.

It's possible that you may have originally saved the images with a incorrect name. For instance, I had saved an image as 4'Ms...this will not work on the website as the apostrophe cannot be used in a name for an image used on the web.
What are the names of your images?

Carbon Terry, Thankyou so much, thats what has happened, some images are saved with a space inbetween their words, Thankyou so much, I can now get on with putting them up.
