Thread: Images in Google & other search engines

Hi, could anyone tell me why the search engines are not picking up my images, by that I mean that if I click on images, lets say on Google or MSN none of my images come up to take me to my web site.
Do I have to optimise my images? if so how do I do this please?

Are you talking about the cached page in the se's? If so, you need to realize that the se's do not SEE images - they read text. That's part of the reason that alt tags are so important. When you are looking at the cached page, it's not supposed to be clickable - the page that is supposed to work is when you type your url into the address bar - or if they bring you up in a search and you click the link there.

Hi Bethers thank you for that information. No I didn't mean the cache pages. When you log onto Google or MSN and type in cakes with a difference, especially in MSN my web site is on page one under the web heading, when I click onto images it shows images of cakes with a difference that it has but none of my images come up. I hope I have explained this OK?

I see you as No 2 and your photos come up ok (googled)

They haven't selected any of your images for the pictures - believe me - you want the link they have for you more than the images - people looking for the images aren't usually looking to buy.
