Default Need help with Tooltip

My website is still in work-in-progress status so nothing is linked....

Please tell me how to make my tooltip show up over the second video when I rollover the first picture in STEP 3 under the title "Switch and Save".

Hi Chris,
The links are instructions to implement tooltip but does not instruct how to make the image appear on top layer over the video. Did I miss something?

I have since put tooltips on Step 2 and Step 3, and they are all appearing under the video next to them. Please advise.

Thanks.

Arrow Re: Need help with Tooltip

You are going to have to cheat a bit, because you cannot lay anything over dynamic content: same for trying to lay anything over Flash.

1. make sure you right-click on your HTML box you pasted the script into > Bring To Front
2. create an object, size it to be larger than the Video "monitor" make it transparent, and lay it over the "player" ......this makes the player now a layer under something in a "que" of elements, so to speak
3. Go back and "Bring to Front" once again your HTML box.

Now see if the pop-ups can slide over another non-dynamic element properly.....

If this does not work, then "cover" the player with the HTML box itself: the script inside is what makes it work so don't think the "pop-ups" will be the size you make the script box.

Glad to see Chris found someone else to pass the Tooltip off too!

I tried both of your suggestions and the videos still appear on top when I published it. I covered the videos with 10 layer of objects and the videos still show up on top when I published it.

I used the exact script that Chris mentioned above (the second one he listed) to created all my tooltips. Only thing I changed was replaced the example pictures with mine.

Please advise.

Question Re: Need help with Tooltip

Well, like I said, dynamic content will generally not stand anything but "top" position. Too bad the unicode format of BV10 did not correct this....

Go ahead and visit www.DynamicDrive.com and do a search on your own for the exact effect you are looking for .... I first posted these scripts a long while ago and then again within the last few days, and but they were not intended for "layering" over Flash or Video, but merely adding effects to links and text (with images, and tags). Chris passed them on too quickly, I suppose.

Suggestion >> While at Dynamic Drive > Tooltips .... look for the one that has the 'tip' follow the mouse rather than present on the page. This might have the exact portion of the script to free it from the page, so to speak. It might also be found in the Cursor section....

If you can't find something at Dyanmic Drive, try www.HotScripts.com and failing there, merely try a couple of Google searches: "free text over video script"; "adding text over video player"; and even "free video converter with text" (in case you simply need to re-shoot the video with the text effect in the video itself).

Got timed out...

The last alternative is to simplfy things a whole lot: simply create a transparent object over your player with Alt Text entered in the Properties so when moused over, the "Text Tip" pops up and is visible to viewers.
However, this will not allow you to use the > button on the MySpace screen, but will force users to use the buttons on the player proper itself.

I've been up most of the night going through all your suggestion but no luck. Is there even a solution or am I wasting my time?

Ah! i was thinking of a small tool tip. I don't think you will be able to get round this problem, so a possible way around it is that we will have to cheat. Place your you tube videos on another page as an image & then have them as a popup. Like you have on the lower image, but just as a popup.

Only an idea.
