Making a jpeg transparent in background

I have a jpeg image that I want to use as a nav button. How do I get the background to be transparent so that it doesn't show any background color?

You need photoshop or similar to erase the background and export it as a transparent gif or png

That can't be done with a jpeg. Your original artwork needs to be exported as a transparent png file, which most drawing programs can do. If you must use the jpeg, open it with a drawing program, remove the white background (not fun) and export as a tranparent png.

I had the same issue you did. I purchased a program for something like $10 called Logo Design Studio and now I can make anything I want and have a transparent background. It is a lot of fun to use and very addicting too!

If your image is a JPEG type, try to convert it out into PNG type of image.
