I am building a site for my church and the teens/preteens have decided they want chat rooms. For obvious reasons, parents are worried who else might access these chats. In the control panel I can create chat rooms. (I have been told) Is there a way to set these rooms for user name/password access? Is there also a way to monitor these rooms and block users? I want the kids to have fun but I want to minimize the risk of predators.

Yes you can make people sign up, think you can then block if required, also some chat room stop some type of words being used. In admin you will be able to monitor

      Maddog,

Thanks for the input. That makes me feel better about giving the kids a chat room.

Hi Rodger, we no longer allow chat rooms, they are too much of a security risk!

You can, however, install a message board (also sometimes called a forum) via Fantastico. That will give you something similar to this forum.

Sry Rodger, however LSR is right you could use a forum like this, also this would allow the users to login in for home, you get a copy of all posts and can delete any you want, as well have making people sign up before posting

              thanks for the information

              Sarah and Maddog,

Thanks for the info. I agree about the security risks. I think a boardwill suit them just fine.
