Linking to a file

Hi Y'all,
Can anyone forward me to a page where I can learn how to link to files on my computer. Ok, here is what I want to do. I want clients to be able to download my Terms of Agreement and other documents, which I have in pdf files on my computer, from my website. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Y'all.

Hi AmaDee... You cant link to files that are on your PC but you can upload them to you website and have people download them from there.

All you need to do is make sure the files are uploaded, in the same way you would up load any other file such as a page or a picture. Then in exactly the same way as you would link to a page (for example a link to you aboutme page) all you need to do is make sure the link is to the file name. here is an example.....

One of your links might be.....

http://www.yoursite.com/index.html

Instead of linking to the index page you can do this....

http://www.yoursite.com/terms.pdf

As a webmaster it is kind of your reponsibility to make sure people can see and access your files easily. PDF files can only be read using a PDF reader, the most common one being the Adobe PDF reader. It will serve you very well if yuou also add a link to the adobe site and tell people that they need to get the reader before they can see you files. Otherwise people will download the files, realise they cant see them and send you a complaint.

So... When you have put llinks on your page for peple to download you PDF files, you should also prived a link that send people here.... http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html .... This link will take them straight to the Abode Reader download page.

One thing I would recommend is storing files in a different folder. This doesn't have to be done and is not vital to the running of your website but it will help you keep files and folers and pages organised and easy to view when you need to view them (in BlueVoda).
