  • Domain Add-On showing up under main domain name

I have my main domain and than an add-on domain, both show up under their respective URLs, however, I'm trying to add another page to the addon and instead of the page coming up at www.addon.com/page2, it's coming up as www.maindomain.com/addon/page2. I put the new page in the addon's folder but that doesn't seem to do anything. What am I doing wrong?

PS - I've already done a search, etc...can't seem to find anything helpful.

How did you publish the page? To publish, make sure you are publishing the page to public_html/addondomainname -
It looks like you published it wrong

I published it in the add-on folder, it still comes up as www.maindomain.com/addon/page2, instead of www.addon.com/page2

Re: Domain Add-On showing up under main domain name

Did you make an index page for your add on domain?
and make its own folder on your computer with its name index so that it does not overwrite your index file for your main domain?
and then publish as public_html/addondomainname ?

I think that is what you have to do and then all pages after than would follow off of that and get published as public_html/addondomainname/page2 or whatever your extension was after your add on domain ....

Ok, when you click to publish - and the box comes up - it says "public_html" - do you change this to say "public_html/youraddondomain"?

Also, what did you name the page - hopefully it's just named page2?

And your extension will end up
          www.addondomainname.com/page2.html
if you publish it to public_html/youraddondomain with a title of simply page 2.

Re: Domain Add-On showing up under main domain name

            Thanks for all your help.

Unfortunately, I'm still alittle lost. Here's what I've done:

            - Opened my 'Cpanel' and clicked on 'Addon Domains'
            - added my new domain, which automatically created a subfolder in the 'public_html' folder, named after the addon.
            - I then uploaded a page to the new subfolder, which works, but again, it's URL is www.maindomain.com/addon/page

Sorry for my ignorance, but I need to keep both sites exclusive from each other.

            Again, thanks for your help.

Re: Domain Add-On showing up under main domain name

You seem to have created your addon correctly in your Cpanel, so as Beth has pointed out, you must be going wrong when publishing........

main site pages are published to public_http

addon site pages are published to public_http/addon

              and thats it..................
              Have fun

Please answer my question above - WHAT did you NAME the page exactly?

If you do this properly the sites will never know each other exist.
