can't get £ to stay?

hi can someone help me as i can't get get £ to stay in my text when i click off the text box the £ sign goes to J OR ? I have tryed to do what the tutorials says and cut and paste and most of the fonts but no good.

use the insert symbol feature.

yes i have tryed that it turns to ? or J when i click off text box?

When you highlight it in the symbols, you then have to click insert in the symbol box - that is what inserts it into your text box.

yes have done that, i will put the £ in as pictures on top of text as i can not get it to work.
