Aloha, I wanted to do some redirect with the error pages. When I clicked on it in the cpanel, I saw a record of the errors that had happened. It would not show the screen with the various error numbers. How can that be changed?

    Re: redirects

Have you ever published any pages and taken them off? You shouldn't be having errors unless people are typing something wrong.

You can only have one redirect page from the error pages - and right now it defaults to give people your home page. You can rewrite that to look differently if you want, but they are being directed to your home page.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about error numbers? In the file log - it shows EXACTLY what people typed - and therefore you can see the problem.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking?

One more thought - in the AWStats - all the way at the bottom - it shows the error codes that people have gotten - and if there's any 404 errors, the number itself will be clickable and you'll be able to see what pages they got it from.

      Re: redirects

There is a message at the top of this forum showing us how to better direct our error messages by going in the cpanel. When I went into the cpanel, I was unable to see the 404, 400, etc. error messages. I was wondering why.

        Re: redirects

I am thinking this is what you are looking for

In your control panel, you will find an icon that says Error Pages -

        Error pages

With this tool you can create custom error pages to display when a user enters a wrong URL, an outdated URL or when the user is not authorized to access a specific directory of your web space.

You click on the actual number 400 or whatever and you can then go in and create a custom page that the viewer will see if something is typed wrong, etc. .... you do it all in there .... customize it however you like ...

hope this helps and is what you wanted ...
