  • Fatal Error in Guestbook

I found a spam entry in my guestbook, but when I went into the guestbook admin, I saw for the first time that the "[delete]" was not an active link. In my attempt to nuke the thing, I inadvertently messed something up, and now I only get "Fatal Error" when click the link to the guestbook page after having republished it.

I tried following Pablo's instructions, as they were so helpful the first time, but I can't seem to find the 'guestbookdb.php' file that I need to upload onto the FTP. Am I on the right track?

I am mighty confused here. Can someone please help?

    Thanks,
    Sandra

    Re: Fatal Error in Guestbook

    Sandra,
I can't really help you but I had the same problem. I had spam in my guestbook yesterday and was able to delete it from the admin. When I found more spam today my delete was missing from my admin. I simply deleted the whole guestbook page for the time being. I just don't have time to go in every day and remove spam. Too bad, it's a nice feature.
    Best of luck,
    Karen

      Re: Fatal Error in Guestbook

Karen, thanks for sharing your experience. I hope I don't have to do that too . . .

Does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to fix this, please?

      Thanks,
      Sandra

        Re: Fatal Error in Guestbook

        Okay, now here's something interesting:

The last I saw, which was yesterday, I had this big error message where the guestbook used to be. Then I decided to check it again just now, and there was a very small error message in its place. I decided to enter a guestbook entry of my own just to see what would happen, and lo and behold, the small error message disappeared, and my guestbook entry appears as normal. The page looks just like it's supposed to! I'm not sure what happened, but thankful that it did!

If anyone remembers SNL from the 70's: As Emily Litella used to say, "Never mind!"
