  • An alt tag issue

Hail the reader and bless the respondent!
I posted a thread asking how I can get my mouse pointing at a site object and produce one of those little boxes with some descriptive text.
I was thankful someone explained that they are called alt tags.
How do I set these up?
Maybe I have a photo or even a text link or any site page object which needs a little explanation?
    Thank you

Re: An alt tag issue continued

Hello David, thank you for your interest.
When I do as you say it puts an aditional pic on the page, the same as the one that exists, clearly because the code is duplicated, but how do i remove the original, or how do i put the alt text in the right place?
I have three options for position and tried all three.
The alt text clearly should be typed in between the " ", as per the blue text here, but now the original must be removed (I think) or what?
      <img src="Neck chain.jpg" id="Image1" alt="Yellow Gold Chains" align="top" border="0" style="width:130px;height:116px;"><img src="Neck chain.jpg" id="Image1" alt="" align="top" border="0" style="width:130px;height:116px;

If I type it there, after copying the existing html into the work space than it duplicates it. I must some how remove the Code which is already there and replace it with the revised version... (I think!) The blue is the revised code. The black is the existing code.

Some more feed back please David, I am stymied.
      Thank you
      Hans

        Re: An alt tag issue

        Hi there...

You are placing it the wrong place.

        right click your image
        image properties
bellow filename, there is a blank field called Alternate Text.

This is where you should place the text you want to show up on mouseover.

Delete both of your pictures, insert again, and enter alternate text as you wish.
