  • page address that works without having to type .html at end

It seems that the only way to get to my sub pages directly is to type the web address/sub page followed by .html (ex. www.lower-premiums.com/hubbell.html vs. just www.lower-premiums.com/hubbell) How do I fix it so someone simply includes the forward slash and subpage name in order to type directly into browser address box.

    Thanks!!

It is normal that you should add the .html at the end of the link. That is how ALL websites are made.

Most applications dont allow you to do this. Youd have to be using something like Oracle Base.. which is a MONSTER program to dynamically generate pages like this.

What you do is create a bookmark link and they just click the book mark to go straight to that page.. much easier and much less headache.

You can probably do it with a .htaccess file. But Why ????

Re: page address that works without having to type .html at end

You will have to have a folder(s) inside your public_html folder for EVERY PAGE. You would then publish one page only to each folder. That pages name would be " index "
If you had 10 pages/folders inside your public_html folder you would have to have 10 " index " pages.
This could be quite confusing when publishing but could be done.
          As Naval asked......"But why?"

Re: page address that works without having to type .html at end

I'm building set of small websites to be accessed from the main 'index' page.

I would like to tell people they have direct access to ANY website but just adding .... /xyz at the end of the main domain. Ive tried creating a folder in the Public_html folder and uploading another 'index' page....but when I type www.mastcam360.com/testfolder into my browser, it goes to the MAIN index page and NOT the index page that I have uploaded to /testfolder. Is there a simple solution???

OH FORGET THAT !..... for some reason its working now, about 10 mins AFTER I uploaded the new index pages ! ...weird !

              Hi there,

You will have to publish it to:

              www.mascam360.com/your created folder/pagename.html

              Ex. created folder name:site1

Publish index page of site1 to:

              www.mascam360.com/site1/

Re: page address that works without having to type .html at end

Thanks for the info. The reason I wanted to do this was to simplify my marketing pieces. I just thought it looked better to have something like www.mysite.com/abc on a brochure vs. www.mysite.com/abc.html. The folders under the public html folder will actually help, since each page in the folder will relate to a specific client.

                    Have a great day!
