  • garbled page when followed from link

www.successmartialarts.info/tekkishodan.html looks fine when i go straight there. But when I go from a link in www.successmartialarts.info/master_club_curriculum.html the page is mixed up. The links are in the words "tekki shodan", "tekki shodan ichi" and "tekki shodan"

Re: garbled page when followed from link

www.successmartialarts.info/master_club_curriculum.html is now www.successmartialarts.info/masterclubcurriculum.html It works fine. I re-did the iframe just in case I'd put a frame within a frame. It hasn't made any difference. The link in the iframe is to a htm file on the server called www.successmartialarts.info/master_club_curriculum_2009.htm This also works.
the problem is the link inside the htm file (the htm file which is in the iframe) which is www.successmartialarts.info/tekkishodan.html This address works independently but not properly in this situation.
I also noticed that when i hover over the link, www.successmartialarts.info/tekkishodan.html shows up at the bottom, but when i click on it and the mixed up page shows, the address in the address bar stays as www.successmartialarts.info/masterclubcurriculum.html,
      rather than www.successmartialarts.info/tekkishodan.html

I hope this helps you help me!

      Thank you.

Why are you IFRAMING this to start with? Why not simple navigation?

I guess you are not the only one David, I am really confused!

Try to name your page with just one or two words then it wont be so confusing. Try not to describe the whole page when naming your links.

Re: garbled page when followed from link

Thank you. I've solved it! The problem was that clicking on the link in the document in the iframe, opened the new file (which was created in BV) within the iframe without navigating to a new page. Since the linked file was created in bv with the same template, the template appeared twice. I went back and altered the properties of the hyperlink to open in a new window, and all is solved.

Just on your question Karen, I'm using the iframe because navigating directly to the html file doesn't give me the ability to make the page look like the other pages on the site i.e it wouldn't have the same graphics and headlines at the top. Also navigating directly to a html file doesn't allow me to control the width of the content on the page.

              David and Zuriatman, points taken.

              Thank you, all
              Richard

                Richard

You are sadly mistaken. YOu CAN control the width.. all the same headers and navigation system, graphics etc...

What an iframe WILL do is insure NONE of the pages are indexec except the frame

Re: garbled page when followed from link

Yes. You can do all that with a normal document. But it isn't as easy when you want to retain the properties of a table in a word document, especially when the table making properties in bv aren't quite as sophisticated as in word (not that i'm criticising bv - it's AWESOME).
I understand direct navigation to a html doc. Is it possible to get the html code from such a document and insert it into a html box on a bv page? would that work?

Re: garbled page when followed from link

yes.. that would work. However.. be aware that its the WORD DOC coding that is the real issue. If you can find an html editor to do this.. and there are some free ones and code your tables with that.. you would be MUCH better off than using word for this.
