    Re: A virgin no more

    Hey,

Its not a bad site but i would recommend making the font size smaller as its almost to big that its hard to read, all your links appear to be working and the only other thing is that each page is a slightly different layout the pictures in the top corners are all different widths, perhaps it would be better to have these the same width for each page

Of course what i say could be complete nonsense but hey
    not a bad first attempt

      Re: A virgin no more

      Hey Robobobo
Thanks for that I have resized a couple of the pictures but the ones of the hanging shells doesn't work so well because of the way the photo was taken,so I will find some other photo's to replace them.
As far as the font is concerned I think that has to do with screen resolution because on my new laptop with a screen res of 1440 by 900 its fine but when I go on the olg rig with a res of 1024 by 768 it is huge.I had the same prob when I first made the site on the old one I had to scroll the the side heaps so I'm not to sure what to do about that.Any Idea's ?
      Cheers

        Re: A virgin no more

i agree, the font was hard to read. did you try another color or maybe a white translucent layer between the background image and the print. it will dull the background a bit and put more empahsis on the print. after all you want the public to read it first. here is an example where i made the layer 60% translucent.
        just a suggetion
also you saved your index page as index.html you should not have the html for the home page.

          Re: A virgin no more

          Hi mrmagoo
I agree it is hard to read and it needs to be sorted but I don't know how to make it translucent.I have checked background colours and it only offers solid colours and I didn't notice any difference in your text at 60%.
When I saved the page it only gave me 2 choices html or php and the tutorial says to save as html.Is there another way to publish them? and Why can't it be saved as html ? it seems to work or does it cause some underlying problem that I am yet to see.
This is great that you peps are willing to help newbies like myself.
          Thanks

            Re: A virgin no more

sorry i took so long to reply, my bad. very busy these days. when you save your page you do not need an extension to the saved name, such as
            index or aboutus
you would just save the page as index
you would just save the page as aboutus
            not index.html
            or aboutus.hml
hope i have cleared that up.
            now for translucent backgrounds
go to shapes. set up your shape with the color of choice, i used an off white. make it solid and down under that there is a box called shape opacity. that is where you control how much color you let through.
again sorry i took so long.

              Re: A virgin no more

No probs about the length of time it's better to be busy than not.Still not to sure about what you mean about saving the page.
This is what I do.When I save the page in BV it automatically saves it as .bvp and when I publish it it automatically saves them as html and in the page properties there is a choice of saving them as html or php. Is this where you mean? or is there some where else that I'm missing.
Thanks for the tip about the translucent backgrounds I'll give it a go right now!

                Re: A virgin no more

i mean when you are linking one page to the other. BV automatically save the page with a bvp extension, so you dont have to do anything there. BV will save the bvp page either in html or php, depending how you have built your website. usually, BV will save all the pages in html except when using the form wizard, then it will save it in php. now that the pages are saved by BV in html, you have to create a link that has the correct extension. for example:
home page - saved as index - no caps, no spaces, no extensions. if you do not have a form on the home page BV will save it in html code. you would use the website name when linking any page to the home page, for example: linking about us to home page would look like this

now you saved the about us page as aboutus - again no caps, no spaces, no extensions. if you do not have a form then BV will save the page with html code. now your link from the home page to the about us page will look like this:

let's say you use a form wizard on your contact us page.
you save the page as contactus - no caps, no spaces, no extensions
because there is a form, BV will save this using php code.
the link from any page to the contact us would look like this:

if this is not clear just contact me through my website and i can walk you through this once or twice, then it will all make sense to you.
                good luck

                  Re: A virgin no more

ok now I understand.I didn't realize you meant linking the pages. All done now but I still have a question about it. Why does it have to be done like this? as it seemed to be working the way it was. Just curious!!! and thanks for your help.

                  Cheers

                    Re: A virgin no more

BV saves the page as php when it requires an action. when someone clicks on the submit button you are telling the server to send this information to your email address. when you have a regular page BV will save as html as no action is needed.
