Favicon not shown

Hello

I know this topic has been done time and time again
I am trying to put a favicon on my page
I have tried both methods below and nothing happens

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://www.yourwebsiteaddress.com/favicon.ico">

I have my favico.ico in the folder with my other web pages but i do not understand what is ment by uploading it
how do i do this or is there some thing else I should be doing that i have missed out

When you say you have the favicon.ico in the folder with your pages, do you mean the folder on your own hard drive? It needs to be on the server, too. You do that by using FTP Manager under "Tools".

Even when you get it right, it often takes awhile before it'll show on browsers--don't know why.

thanks

so once i have opened ftp manager and made a connection
do i just drag and drop the favicon.ico into the same folder as the web page i want it to appear on
and which of the paths is correct i will try the one without the domain name first

Normally, drag and drop to the public_html folder so that it appears on all pages of your site.
