  • Domain Name set to expire with another host

    Hi,

I need info on this please...

I have a domain name with another provider (which I've never had my site up and running with them), it is set to expire on June 20th. Should I wait for it to expire with them and then get it through BV or should I transfer now? How long should I wait?

    Thanks everyone.

    Deb

Re: Domain Name set to expire with another host

Does Host Relief supply a way to automatically renew my name at the end of the registration term?
Recently Host Relief has set up that option as a default for all domain names. If you are not sure whether your domain name has "Auto Renew" on, go to the Domain Control Panel, in the "Utilities Box" click the link called "Set Reg-lock/Auto-Renew Options", follow instructions.

Will you remind me the domain is going to expire before you automatically renew it?
Yes. Email notifications will be sent 25 days and 10 days prior to expiration. The domain name will automatically renew unless you disable the auto-renew option within 14 days. Please be sure your email address and credit card information are current to avoid unintentional domain renewals or expirations.

I want to extend the registration on a domain name for 3 years not just one. How do I do this?
Go to the "My Domains" page which lists all your domains, click on the domain you want to renew, click the "Add Years" button. From there you can choose the amount of years you want to renew your domain name for (10 years maximum)by clicking on the pull down menu. Click "Add to Cart", checkout, you're done!

I hit "Add to Cart" by mistake. Can I cancel the renewal and get my money back?
Right now the item is just in your cart and has not yet been purchased. Just go to your cart, select the item you don't want, and click the "Delete Item(s)" button.

I hit "Purchase" by mistake. Can I cancel the renewal and get my money back?
No, all sales are final. Once a domain is extended, the registry will not refund purchases.

        » Renewing an expiring name
I received an email that one of my domain names is about to expire. How do I renew this name?
Go to the "my domains" page, click the "expiring domains" tab, select all the domain names you want to renew, add them to your cart and checkout. You are done.

        » Renewing an expired name
My website went down, and when I looked at my domain name, the status says "Expired". What happened?
We send out email renewal notices 45, 30 and 15 days prior to the expiration date. All communication is sent to the email address in your account, and includes instructions on how to renew your domain. If the automatic renewal option is turned off, we will not renew your domain name. If your credit card information is not current, we will send an email with this information as well, but will be unable to renew the domain until the information has been updated. These are possible reasons a domain name will expire.

How do I get an expired name renewed?
If the domain has been expired for less than 10 days, You can renew your domain name by going to the "expired name" tab in your domain name page. This tab features all expired names with a link to renew these names right away.

Can I just wait and register the name later?
Yes. After Host Relief releases, or "drops" the name, it is placed in a general pool and the public can purchase the name. You can at this moment register the name from within your Host Relief account with no additional fees. However you risk to have someone else register it before you get a chance to.

There is a name that has expired with a different registrar. I want to buy it. However, when I try to register it, I get an error that says it is not available. Can you help me get it?
No. Registrars are allowed to retain domain names, and some may keep the names beyond 45 days. Unfortunately, there is nothing Host Relief can do to encourage another registrar to drop names that have expired. You might want to try and contact the registrar yourself, or just keep trying.

Re: Domain Name set to expire with another host

VodaHost will only auto renew your subscription if you had submitted a support ticket requesting them to do so.

Which is also subject to your mode of payment that you are paying with.
Normally it is when you pay with a credit card.

The onus of responisbility is yours and yours alone.
If you do not renew in advance; what will happen is when the expiry date is passed. you will not be able to view your website and instead automatically redirected to someother site.
