    Hi I'm new to web building. In the insert hyper pop-up got http and mailto sorted , but could someone please explain the others ie: file ftp an gopher. What are they for and what does one put in the 'url' box? Thanks. Blue Voda is great.

    Most of the time you wont use the others. FTP is for linking one to an ftp server login.. Ive NEVER used the gopher one.. so no idea where you would use it.. but if you google it.. im sure you can find out.

        What box and what file? If you wanted someone to ftp your site.. then youd put your site domain name / the folder

        ftp://yoursite.com/downloads/

        then they could download whatever was there... but.. they will also need a user and password.

          In the hypher link pop upthe following shows:
          Link type : http
          file
          ftp
          etc
          File name: ???
          Its this file name that I am looking for to complete the picture.

          PS: by the way I googled 'gopher as you suggested and got the info from 'navaldesign'. He advises that gopher is an old protocol for http.
