503 login error

Hi there. After uploading to the ftp and creating the links for my zip files i went to my site on the net. The pages are working nicley but when i want to see if a viewer can download the zipped pdf file i get 503 login authentification failed. I dont want my pdf files protected i want anyone to be able to download them.Anyone know how to fix this?
