  • Trouble with borders around images.

Since I have got Windows 7 my website is not working right. In the past I put a painting on top of a darker image which created a border, but now when published it give me a weird red image around it. Example go to www.willismillerart.com then click on still life, then click on New Freedom. I did not put the irregular edged red border there. This never did it in the past under Windows XP. I really would appreciate some help in language I can understand. I did not use tags, or trackbacks because I do not understand what that means. Thanks

    Hi Timberman,

There's this line of code (view page source) that may be the culprit. I'm not a code guy so please solicit some help from guys like Naveldesign or Vasilli.
I did click on the .gif in this code and it produced a small red ball. I couldn't find this anywhere on your page so I'm ASSUMING it could be the problem and somehow gets enlarged when using Windows 7. Sorry I couldn't be more help...
PS: I think it looks OK with the Red around it!

    <div id="bv_Shape1" style="position:absolute;left:260px;top:142px;widt h:475px;height:386px;opacity:0.75;-moz-opacity:0.75;-khtml-opacity:0.75;filter:alpha(opacity=75);z-index:5;" align="center">
    <img src="images/bv01002.gif" id="Shape1" align="top" alt="" title="" border="0" width="475" height="386"></div>

Re: Trouble with borders around images.

      Thanks,

I am so lost. I do not even know how to ask Nazex or Vasilli. In the past customer support helped me and I did not go to a forum. I do not know what I am doing. I do know it is not a one page problem. It is on about all of the bigger images. If I cannot get an answer I guess I will need to do a properties border around every image and that will take probably hours of work.

      Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry Timberman I led you down the wrong path. I did find the red ball on your web page so that's not your problem. I'm not sure how to get in touch with Vasilli or Naveldesign except through this forum. Most times they will just respond to your query (Title) if it looks like its something they could help with.

            Timberman...

You have added a small red dot to the main photo page. The dot is behind your bigger photos on the various other pages. Remove all the dots and your problem will go away.

Re: Trouble with borders around images.

              Hi,

I checked and there is no red dot behind the bigger image. I did take the New Freedom image and put the border image within the grid and publish. That is the only thing I did with that one image and all the images seem to be working now. Things like this have happened before where the red border went away and they came back later with the red weird border. I don't feel it is permanently fixed. Still confused.

Thanks and any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Trouble with borders around images.

In your browser right click on the red mess and choose "view image" or similar. This will show you the image, the name of the image and the size of the image. In the case of the New Freedom page, the image is a red dot named bv01002.gif that is 12x12 pixels. The name may vary from page to page, but basically, the problem is often caused by copying and pasting the same image from page to page. If you modify bv01002 (accidentally or intentionally) on one page, it will change that image for all pages, which leads to problems like this one.

In your case, the shape you created as the background to the image (as well as on other pages) has taken on some of the characteristics of the dot. What you are looking at is a 12x12 dot enlarged a couple of dozen times. Delete the background shape completely, redo it from scratch, and see if that helps.

Re: Trouble with borders around images.

Thanks a lot. I do not see the problem right now but when it rears it ugly head, I will make that change or changes and see what happens.

Thanks again. Hope all is well.
