    Be sure your Form Layout is stretched way out underneath the buttons (it will always appear transaparent , so matter if it lays over another element in BV).

    Delete the old button, stretch down your Form Layout more, re-insert the Submit button. POOF!
    Should do the trick.

    The button is set up that way. It works fine. But when it is pressed, it goes to "cannot display page". The submit button is used to send questions and comments to me. But, how do I receive these questions and comment. Where do they come to so I can read them and answer them.

    NGazzara,
    For the whole process to work- you need a form for people to enter data into, a script to process and an e-mail account to receive the info.

    I recommend that you use the following tutorial to set up the form and
    script.
    http://netisopen.com/computer/TF001/T001.html

    Once you have mastered that- then click here and have a look at makeing a more secure form.
    http://www.netisopen.com/computer/TF001/phpmailto.html

    David has also put together an easy instant form and you can download and use. You can find it here:
    http://youandmelinkup.info/forms/

    Hope that helps some,

    Andy,

    I read through your very informative tutorial. I pretty much understand most of it but I am not sure where to type the script. Please advise. ( I have also looked at the video. Unfortunately, the print is not legible and it's difficult to read the instruction).

    Thanks again,

    I would open note pad and copy and paste to it. Then , when you are ready, open the page properties as per the tutorial and paste it in there.

    Read through it once and then go step by step and it should be clear.

    Paste it where the title is typed in? There is no other place for it.

    Right click on an open spot on the page and and choose

    "page html"

    This will open the box as seen in the tutorial.

    Question Re: Horray, horray...but I still need help

    Right click on an open spot on the page and and choose
    "page html"
    This will open the box as seen in the tutorial.

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

    Your instruction are very good. Thank you..
    However, I followed them and everthing looks great until I preview. The html language is visible at the top of the page. I copied and pasted it into the "inside body tag" as instructed.
    Nothing on the page was highlighted when I chose the html page from the view menu. Did that make a difference. Obviously, I did something wrong.
    Please help.

    Thanks again,
    Nancy

    php in preview will appear as text. You have to publish for the script to work without appearing as text in the page.

    It's me again. Of all the tasks in designing this website, this is the most difficult.

    It seem that when I press the "submit" button on my form on the contact page I am directed to a "cannot display page" page.

    Like I said earlier, I went over the instruction carefully and rechecked all my moves and I can't seem to find out why my "submit" button doesn't work.

    Any Suggestions?

    Please post here the urL of the form page. If you get a "Page not found" error, it means the the page set as "action" for the form, hasn't been yet created / uploaded, or it has been uploaded in the wrong place.

    Nancy-
    On the form you need to make the following adjustments;
    Name field needs to be - name
    E-mail field needs to be - email
    Phone field needs to be- phone
    Questions or comments field needs to be - comments

    The way you have it now- the name for the first three fields are named T1 and the comments area is named - E-Mail.

    Also- where is your process123 page? This will be your page that you put your message- Thank you for filling out my form- we will get back to you blah, blah, blah, blah............. This is also the page that you will open the page html and insert the php script into.

    We're making progress.

    Andy, I corrected all of the field names today. The words "Comments & Questions" is set in a text box. The text box is named "comments"

    According to the first link of your tutuorial I should have been able to use the "submit" button after that process. I didn't realize that I had to create the "process 123" page in order for everything to work properly.

    I will get on that right away. My target date to get this site up and my business started is Sept. 1 of this year..lol....
    Thanks again for your help

    Nancy-
    You seem to be bouncing back and fourth between the two tutorials taking some from each. Each is different. Like I suggested before- start with this one;
    http://netisopen.com/computer/TF001/T001.html

    Read it all the way through and follow each step. Then once you have mastered that one, we can move on to making it a little more secure.

    So now that the form is set up correctly you need to create the thankyou
    page. Make sure to check the php extension in the page properties. When you save the page- simply type in thankyou where it asks for page name. When you publish it BV will give it a php extension.

    As to your website. It looks very very nice. The colors and style are inviting and evoke professionalism and confidence. I did notice that your picture is not there- did you put one on the page yet? In any event- you have done a wonderful job thus far. Keep up the great work.

    Andy,

    You're the best! Thanks for your compliments. My pic was up but I took it down. You see, Gina is my daughter and she wanted me to use her black & white photo, I don't have one. I plan to get one, soon. I had a photo up on my profile...I guess I'll have to post one again.

    As for the "thank you" page. It's been completed but the submit button on my contact page doesn't work. The php ext is checked and it shows up in the FTP manager, so does the contact page as an html.

    I'm not sure what is wrong here.

    I have looked but can't find the thankyou.php page

    Are you sure you published it? Can you see it in the FTP manager on the server?

    Also- on the form, did you choose multipart/form data ?

    Andy, I corrected the form to read "multipart/formdata" and yes the thank you page has been published and it shows in the FTP manager as thank_you.php. This page is saved as thank_you in blue voda too.

    Maybe you can find it now.

    Ok- then on the form you need to correct the action to-
    thank_you.php

    Give that a try.

    Yes. You see the when the submit button is pressed it tells the form what page to seek out to process the information. That is your thank_you.php page. Correct this and your it should work.

    I did that and it still doesn't work. When I click the submit button , the thank you page should come up, right? I get "page cannot be found"

    Ok- I have found the problem. You have published two contact_us forms.
    One is in the main public_html area and the second is in the folder
    contact.

    So here is what we do. On your main page (index) change the hyperlink to : http: //simplelifestyles.net/contact/contact_us.html
    This will direct the user to the correct form.

    Then use the FTP Manager to delete the other contact_us form (page).
    MAKE SURE NOT TO DELETE THE ONE IN THE CONTACT FOLDER.

    I actually tested your form and it worked. Now we just have to see if you
    received the e-mail.

    I changed the hyperlink to simplelifestyles.net/contact/contact_us.html on my index page.

    Then I went to the FTP manager and deleted the contact_us page
    I lost the connection on the main page when I clicked on Contact Us. I changed the link in every page to the one you suggested.

    Nancy-
    When I click on the nav bar on your main page- this is the hyperlink that is displayed:
    http: //www.simplelifestyles.net/%20//simplelifestyles.net/contact/contact_us.html

    This is what it should be:
    http://www.simplelifestyles.net/contact/contact_us.html

    For some reason, when you typed in the new one it added it to the existing.

    Did you receive the test e-mail from your form?

    Ok- almost there. The php script on the tutorial that you were to copy and paste in the "page html" area of the thankyou page- can you paste it
    here so I may have a look?

    To do so- right click on an open area of the thanyou page and click on "page html". Then click on Inside body tag. In the white area should be the code you pasted. Copy that and then paste it here on the forum.

    Also- what e-mail address are you sending it to?

    You missed the last part of the script when you cut and paste. If you put

    </script>

    at the very end (and so long as the script was placed Inside body tag- then it should work once corrected.) Remember to save/publish and that should do it. So it should look like;

    <script language="php">
    $email = $HTTP_POST_VARS[email];
    $mailto = "consult@simplelifestyles.net";
    $mailsubj = "Form submission";
    $mailhead = "From: $email\n";
    reset ($HTTP_POST_VARS);
    $mailbody = "Values submitted from web site form:\n";
    while (list ($key, $val) = each ($HTTP_POST_VARS)) { $mailbody .= "$key : $val\n"; }
    if (!eregi("\n",$HTTP_POST_VARS[email])) { mail($mailto, $mailsubj, $mailbody, $mailhead); }

    </script>

    Let me know.

    I sent you an e-mail from my gmail account to see if e-mails are getting through.

    The only other thing I could think of would be to change the email
    address in the script to include http://www.

    Your mail didn't come through...I checked the cpanel to make sure that my e-mail address was correct and it seems to be. Does it matter if I choose Squirrel or Hord?

    No it doesn't matter. If you have another e-mail such as msn, hotmail, or yahoo- maybe plug in that email address inthe script to see if it is just an issue with your account in cpanel.

    Everything appears to be ok except that e-mails aren't getting through to the c-panel account.

    If you don't have another account- use mine to test.

    Hi,

    I contacted the support team. They said that they tested my e-mail and it's working fine but I still can't receive e-mail from my contact page. There must be something between the language in the thank you page and the contact page that I'm missing.

    Thanks,
    Nancy
