Thread: Program error -

Ive been using BV all day. And just a few minutes ago when I tried to publish, windows announced an error and closed BV. I tried to open again and the same happened whether or not I was opening a new page or an established page...So then I closed all applications and rebooted. Same error:
"Bluevoda.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."
Ive never seen that before...

Try shutting everything down and rebooting.

Thats what I tried. I closed everything cleaned up and rebooted...still didnt work.

Morning! Last night I shut all down and cleaned up all the extras. I ran spyware and virus programs...and this morning still the same problem is happening...If I re install BV do you think that will help? and if I do this I shouldnt loose any of my work- am I right?
I dont know what else to do I can open a support ticket if you perfer!

Try doing a system restore, from before the issue started.

Will do! good idea..I did try to re install with no luck.

If this doesn't work, do the following:
1. Copy ALL your BlueVoda folder under another name. Don't delete it. This is just a precaution so you have all your work backed up.
2. Uninstall BlueVoda through it's own uninstall wizzard
3. After uninstall, look to see if there is still any trace of BV under c/programs/BlueVoda Website Builder . If there is anything, delete it.
4. Re-download a fresh Bluevoda pack
5. Reinstall and try.

I have since ran **** cleaner. I dont know if your familiar with that application so what it does is to do a complete cleaning of EVERYTHING! I hate using it but do so periodically.
Still doesnt work. So as of now Im heading out for the day and I wll try your suggestion when I return!

Try another: Uninstall (again), then try installing BV not in the default folder it will ask for, but in another one (whichever you want) and see. Don't know if this can be a solution, but at this point ten minutes of work would not be such of a bother.

Another question: does BV open and the problem creadted when you try to work with it? or it doesn't come up at all ?

BV opens and after choosing either new or existing page, it then closes.
I do however have access to FTP manager.

There is nothing broken or to submit a support ticket about.The issue is on your computer..Sounds like you are having registry issues...Please add me to your MSN and I will try to walk you through some fixes.

Ok..thats cool, but I have deleted all and any presence of BV, so I can start fresh...that will take a bit as I have dial up..lol....I know(shh) but I will add you as soon as I get the download started!...thanks

I dont know if it makes any difference but I have had troubles in the past with downloading from AOL...so Im trying to download BV on FF and see if that makes any difference...

Hey *****, I did all that you asked. without any change..
I'm off here until tomorrow morning. Then Ill have my bells on and ready to try something new!...hehe.
Its the strangest thing as after opening it - if I choose the option to view videos etc then the program stays up. and I can access ftp and all other options, but I cant bring up a new page or an established file..hmm..all my other programs work fine, no other issues..all registry issues are fixed now, thank you. very strange cunundrum...hmm.

I uninstalled all bluevoda. I have both 7.0 and 8.0. I was using the 8.0 when this occured. So after deleting all BV files. I reinstalled 7.0 and I was able to work it to an extent. I was able to build new pages and publish them...again when I tried to bring up an old file from my backup that was built on 8.0 it crashed.
I looked at the files in my 'regedit' and the files for either application are different. although I know where to go to see the info, I have no clue of what to do with it..

Why is it that the older version works but not the new version or the files from the new version?

Hi Kate,

the files of the new version have a different internal format. BV is backwards compattible, but not forward compattible. As Office 2003 can open files of Word 1998 but not the other way round.

yea that makes sence...just trying to figure out whats wrong still. Ive been 5 days without my sitebuilder. so Im getting a bit desparate..and grasping straws..

I strongly beleive it has something to do with your computer, but remote diagnosis is beyond our reach. You should check your windows installation

Computer break down (in hardware or software level) all of a sudden. Who knows ?
