Evening all,

Need help deperately!

I have built, published, and loaded all web pages onto voda server.

What do I need to do next to get the site to the web?

I have looked every where for answers.

Ok, Michael, tks ... so you are not hooked up ... Did you publish your pages from the blue voda webbuilder and did you name your main page - index ?? all small letters - no spaces - no symbols ???? and did you publish it to public_html ??

Do you have a Voda Host webhosting plan?

Pages were published with voda, the main page is labeled about me, yes they were uploaded using blue ftp

www.hotttie4ever.com is available as per godaddy ... that is what you typed michael

go daddy has a park page for the site, we were going to use them as a server before I used blue voda software, yes it is my page/site on go daddy

the domain is registered to me, i used them to register the domain.

well your site needs to be hosted by voda. have you paid for your account and transferred the domain name??

Correct me if I am wrong Bethers, but wouldn't the domain name need to be with voda and he would need a client id.

So you have purchased a web hosting account through blue voda .... then you would need to point your domain to the server that blue voda provided to you in your welcome letter, did you receive that??

you would be talking about that as well ... also the DNS servers you should have two of them in your welcome letter among other things

and it is my understanding go daddy is the registrar ....

so did you do this?

I don't think so, sounds foreign to me, let me look at the the server and see if i can figure it out.

ok ... this is what you will need to do first ... then we have to fix your main page and call and publish that index ...

but firstly

on that same welcome letter, at the very top on the right, you will see my account ... you will need to sign in there ... you will find your password near the very bottom of your welcome letter ....

you will need to sign into your account and go to my domains, and update the servers .... you will see where to type those ns. vodahost.coms
type both of those in there ....
and update ......

that will be the first step

no you cannot start there .... your account is different than the control panel ....

go to my account ... it is in small black (sorry not blue) writing at the very top of your welcome letter on the right ... kind of a submenu ....

they resent my welcome letter and the second one does not have that info.

I thought you saw those somewhere ... you mentioned is that the ns. ..... voda.coms i said yes .... where did you see those before? And does this welcome letter give you a VBS username and a VBS password?

okay those ns ....vodahost.com they are your domain name servers we were looking for .... good you have those

now sign into your account look for VBS Login or go here http://www.vodahost.com/vbsand sign into your account and once in there go to MY Domains and then see if your domain name is in there ... and if it is go to update (a menu on the left) and type those two ns..... names in that menu bar ....

we also need the correct spelling for your domain name too ....

when you click on my sites and then click on your domain name ... click your domain name .... and it will take you to where you can add the servers ...

my domain is there, but non clickable, only item clickable is a ? next to it, and the status is on?

on my cpanel for voda, it shows hottie as a main domain? does that help any?

yes and go back into your account ... you were not clicking your domain name in the right spot

go in there and at the top submenu you will see MY Sites .... click that .... then MY DOMAINS .... click that .... then you will be able to click your domain name so we can add the two server names ....

I am beginning to think that perhaps you domain name might already have the new servers on it, but heck, we have gone this far, might just as well check to be sure .....

you logged into your vbs account and clicked My Domains and does it show your domain but you just can't click it ... is that what you are saying ...

I think you have to get your domain name pointed to vodas servers and you cant seem to do that in your account, i would submit a support ticket to voda asking if they could point your domain to their servers, you may find that you may need godaddy to do this ... they will let you know

yes i would do that as well and it would not hurt to put a support ticket into voda as well for the same matter .... but in reading that I dont think your domain has been pointed to the voda servers and until the registrar (go daddy) unlocks the site and adds you as admin contact etc., I believe you are stumped to have to wait ....

in the meantime, remember when you do get it sorted, your very first page your home page, must be named index, saved as index and published as index, by default this will be the page that the viewers when go to when they click your url ... your domain name ....

if you published a page titled: index.html, and you have been able to log into your cPanel, then go to your cpanel(logged in) and look at your address bar in your browser: it should read... http://www.yourdomain?????

delete everything from the end all the way back to the to right after the last letter of what''s listed and type your .? at the end: .com, .org, .net, etc..

i forgot which one you said.. With an index.html page published doing this would take you to it...if not,

THAT'S JUST IT!! I was writing that post about 4-6posts back, LOL.

i did notice though, that domain is a parked domain, I embarrassed to say do not know much on how those are handled when transferring... maybe this situation would be mainly about transferring a parked domain to VodaHost???

lol Robert ... yes I do believe that is the problem, when reading about the pointing of the servers, he should have received further emails etc., about this, also the admin contact on the domain name at the registar go daddy is not himself .... so go daddy needs to release this, voda may not even do anything until go daddy adds his name as admin contact ... yeah ... was all a new thing for me too ... I can't believe I was left holding the fort ... lol .........

well he cannot even transfer it to voda until 60 days, and it was just oct. 17th so he just has to point the servers, but cannot get those pointed until go daddy releases, etc. ....

If you just purchased your domain name via GoDaddy Oct 17, you are permitted to transfer them immediatly if you so desire.
You will NOT be able to transfer them if you have entered your control panel there and made any changes to the Registration or updated any of your contact information with them for the 60 days you mention.

YOU can make the DNS changes yourself at GoDaddy (I'm not even sure they will do it for you over the phone...too many problems with improper transfers that way?) to point to your VH hosted account, and when you do it yourself, it has been my experience that it takes no more than 3-4 hours for everything to become active. Actually, for me, the average has been about 2 hours (I still have more than 50 domains "parked" there alone).

It's a simple thing to do: log into your account, click on Manage My Domains (left side top nav drop-down under "Domains"), again top left blue underlined listing "Manage Domains", click on the domain itself, and then the "+" next to "Nameservers" and merely type in your VH server info, click Save Changes and - poof! Done!
