Can I make a transparent backround on text? And if so, how?

Well, I want my text to have a transparent background because I want a picture to show up behind it.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Simply use the insert text tool. The background is automatically transparent.

When I wrote my text over the colored parts of the template, the background is transparent and things look fine. However, when I previewed the website, the text box (background) appears white, creating a white rectangle over my blue template. How do I get rid of the background white color?...Please bear with my stupid questions. I've glanced through this forum and other users all seem to ask questions that are much more advanced. :(

try highlighting all your text in the text box and click 'reset background' on the 'background color' menu next to the font color menu.
