Default PDF file link question, etc

    Hi again folks,

My site that I'm building is a diet website called flabfallsoff.com, as posted earlier :)

Andy & Bethers helped me out a lot in previous posts, I just thought I'd post a new one as I have some more specific questions...

Still trying to sort out a few things here… far as I can see, the only issues I have before going live are:

    1) my payment links from my home page to Clickbank’s Payment page, will they work? I guess only Clickbank can tell me this, when they test the links?

    2) Do my links on the Thank You page (ie the page that the buyer is directed to after he has been approved and successfully bought the product on the ClickBank secure server) work… these are the Download Now button, and the Support email link. I tested the Support email link and it came up with an MS Outlook email, so that seems to be okay? But with the Download Now button, I am trying to understand how to connect that to the PDF file, which I successfully uploaded through the FTP link so it’s now sitting in the right hand side of the BlueFTP thing (sorry for the vague terminology – still learning!!)

So I guess the big question now is: how do I know the client who has paid will get his PDF book when he clicks on the Download Now button? How do I test this?

Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

    Will

Click on the download link and the download dropdown box should appear if you have set up the link correctly

Aloha, I just went through this myself. Let me try to help you.
    1. To see if this works, go to your buy page and click on it. It should take you to ClickBank and your product's payment page.
    2. You make the thank you page. There has to be a returm url page in ClickBank. In other words, when your customer finishes paying, CB wil direct to whatever page you have told them to, thus your thank you page.
    3. If the download page is coming after the thank you page, you just have to set then up that way.
    4. You can setup your downloads on one page as long as they have different titles. As an example, www.mydomain.com/filename.pdf
    5. The email used is the one that you setup in bv. If Outlook is the one you setup then they will be directed to that one. I am using a yahoo email. You can change your email. Just go the cpanel.
    6. I am asking a friend to go through the entire buying process on my website to test it. Then I am reimbursing her the cost. I will then bring it to the forum and ask three people to do the same.

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi Dave & Scuba,

tks for the help! Appreciate it. Only thing is tho that I'm still vague as to the Download now button: if I Preview the webpage and then try click on it, nothing happens. What part of the BV tutorials did I miss in not connecting the Thank You page to my PDF file sitting in the Blue FTP right hand side section?

Re the email address on the Thank You page: ClickBank say they DONT want a button, they want an email address as in hyperlink. So when I click on it, a blank MS Outlook email comes up. So it seems to work for me, but will this work for others who click on it?

Yeah, I agree with Dave, Scuba - from what I understand thru CB, you dont need to pay, all links can be determined without paying, tho of course it wont harm ;)

So thanks guys, i'm almost there, pse tell me in simple terms how to connect the Download Now button and the PDF file, tks!

PS Scuba, I went briefly to your site and I thought it looked very professional. So ya done good ;)

    cheers

    Will
PS is there phone support that we can call on? Would be nice to be walked thru the process :)

    Will:
Somewhere on your thank you page(the return page from your payment provider)
put a button or text link to your PDF file

    ie: http://yourdomainname.com/pdffilename.pdf

    Hi Dave,

tks for the quick reply. I had already put a button on my Thank You page saying "Download Now" - I just dont know how to link them. All I know is that my PDF file is sitting in the right hand side of the Blue FTP. I dont know its URL, so i cant link the two.

There must be something really basic that i'm missing...

    Tks!

    Will
PS I learned thru the BV basic tutorials, should I also go to SOHOLAUNCH to understand more about setting up an eCommerce site, or is this not neccessary?

    Your last question first.........

Wait until you have the basics in BlueVoda before you try Soho....

This is an example link to your PDF file (lets assume its called mypdf)
and lets also assume that this is your website address(planet777@global.co.za)

Your link to your pdf file would be:

    http://planet777@global.co.za/mypdf.pdf

and thats it...........If you dont know how to link, please see the tutorials.

    Hi Dave,

tks for the reply. This is getting frustrating... I thought the problem might be that my Download Now button (which I created using Forms, I think) was the problem. When I preview, and click on it, it doesnt do anything.

So I created a Line with a hyperlink [http://www.flabfallsoff.com/flabfallsoff.pdf] saying CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD, and when I previewed, my Microsoft Download Manager prompted me to download the pdf file. So aha, I thought, I am making progress. But when i tried, the dialog box came up with an error message: "The required file does not exist. Details: HTTP 1.1. 404 Not found"

I've been over and over the tutorials but honestly cannot find the specific one that I am missing. Which tutorial were you referring to? Can you mention it by name pse?

When I go to my FTP Manager, I see I successfully uploaded my PDF file (Flabfallsoff.pdf) It is sitting in the remote side (RHS) of the FTP Manager, in a Sub-directory I created using the BV tutorial on that subject (how to use Blue FTP etc)

So WHERE is the "missing link"?? why wont it download? Is there phone support? I need someone to walk me thru this telephonically, pse.

    Tks again,

    Will

    Hi Dave,

success! I put in the subdirectory's name and i'm now able to download, the test download also worked.

Must say tho that the BV tutorial on the subject doesnt seem to cover ALL of the stuff you need to know - so i think i will put up a comment post on that somewhere... ;)

Only thing remaining now is another issue, i'll put up a sep. post for that i think :)

    tks for the help

    will
