Smile Bv and web page separated

    Hi!
Can you help me with this? I had to erase the content of my computer and installed the program again (Windows). I had a backup of everything including my web page, pictures, etc. Then, I downloaded Bluevoda (just the basic one). But, I have a file with the web page and the program (Bv) separated. What do I do now to have my web page in the program again and continue publishing.

BV will download under Program Files and your files will be in a new folder under Documents and Settings/My Documents/BlueVoda

Open them from the location where they are stored as you would do withany other software, by browsing your computer.

    Question Re:Optimisation of index

    Hi Folks,

I am not sure whteher this is the correct thread.

My site is now running and to this extent have had some feedback.

The main crit. is that my first page (index) loads to slowly and that I should optimise the pictures. I have resized all the pictures on that page and thus am at a dead end to improve it better.

Your advice / ideas would be most welcome.

My website is http://www.oryan-projects.com/gnjgf for those that wish to look at it and comment.

    Regards
    Rob

Your photos are huge (electronically) They are 8-10 times larger than they need to be. Use the Pixel Resizer Program or other photo editing program to reduce the file size.
The size of most of the main photos are appx 150,000 bytes.
A photo this size (physically) should be no more than 20,000 bytes
Quite a difference. That's one reason why the page loads so slowly.

    Thanks for the quick replies.

    Question?a plenty

Could the path that the computer follows to find the pic also influence the speed?

The pics have been resized and vary in size from the worst 211kb to the best at 56kb. Can they be downsized again without losing quality?

    Regards
    Rob

Your page loads fast, but then I am on broadband.

The path will not affect how fast your website loads. The way it was created will. What you put in first loads first. Say you started creating your page with a rather large image, added a NavBar, text, lines, etc. your page will load in the same sequence.

Use PixResizer to optimize the size and quality of your images.

Also and since you are just starting, plan all of your work so you don't have to return and make time consuming corrections. Example, your Navbar image could be changed to better reflect your site (say golf grass green background) and change from _blank to _self to avoid a lot of new windows that users may not want.

Check for things like Domestic and National, did you want to say Local ?

    Good luck

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for your reply and you comments for improvement are noted.

The Domestic - refers to our local tournament and National self explanitory. I accept you idea it is just the term that most understand here.

Because we are a Province in South Africa we all have individual identities , colours and heraldry. So in our instance we are Gauteng North - our heraldry is the Barberton Daisey and our colour is blue -hence the symbolism.

I would love to have green with some beautiful pics of famous golf courses but that might mean Id have to mve provinces.

I use ADSL and it is fairly quick so I glad for your input to making my site better

    Regards
    Rob

    Rob,
I was able to resize the photo with the trees to 23kb with little loss in quality using PhotoShop. If you want, email them to me and i will resize them for you.
