    Question Importing a page

    Hi,

I saved the home page of one of my existing websites from view source on my notepad and just imported this page into a new BV page. Of course the images did not show up but all of the page elements did. My question is, can I edit this imported page now in BV or is this not possible? In other words, must I start from scratch to rebuild in BV or can I still import what I am trying to transfer and edit it. I have all the images saved in my Documents.
Or, still, would I be better off trying this with Soholaunch?

Eileen, If you have imported the html page into BV, then it is now editable and can be saved, then published.
Its good that you have all the photo etc, because you now just click on the image box and repoint to where you have stored them.

You may have to do a little work with the text, but that not going to take to much time................

Ezyweb: its customary to start a thread of your own and not intrude on anothers, but in answer to your question, please check the spelling of your 2nd page as you might have capitalised or mispelt it.
    That usually the case.

good luck, and dont be bashful in opening a thread with your questions....
We all try to help each other..........

Sorry for intruding. This is my first time to be in any forum and dont see any link so I can submit my own question. So the only way I can see to submit a question was to click on a reply.

In every forum, there is a button on the top left marked "Create Thread". Using that will help others help you with your specific issues and it won't take attention from people who have requested help in their own threads.

Don't take David's comments the wrong way, they were meant to be helpful to both you and the creator of this thread.

    Cool Re: Importing a page

Thanks for your reply, David. Actually, being new here, I kind of forgot just where I had posted this thread, but found it today.

Now, as to dragging and dropping images, I can only see the html page when I preview and it has those red x's in the image boxes. But, of course, I can't edit on the preview page, so how do I get this page to show up in the builder part of BV so that I can edit? I keep reading the tutorials, but I am missing something about editing the HTML part.

    As I mentioned above:
    import html page
    save

its now a bv editable page....you cannot drag and drop pics, you need to open an image box, then select the pic.

If you have the box already from your import, just click the box and in properties re-select your pic.......

Thanks again, David. Guess I have to try harder and see what happens. One other question. If my site is not yet published, am I supposed to put in the URL here when I post? The site is live with another host at present and I am hoping to eventually get it into BV.

If you publish your live site url here, I can probable get the pics/images, import the page and see why you are having problems....thats if you wish.

    Wink Re: Importing a page

    Hi again David,

Thanks for the offer. I tried the import button, but something is wrong.
Thanks for help. I would like to import the entire site, but am afraid something would happen as the website is live now with Stores Online as host. I am really anxious to make the change to BV.

    My site URL is:

    www.allseasonpetbeds.com

    Hi again Eileen,

Now that I have seen your site and also your sister site, then I am wondering why you need to redo everything in BV !!!!

Both sites look operational. Why dont you just point your DNS to vodahost and continue trading as is ??

It might be advisable to open another thread requesting advice from Bethers, as she has already moved over 1 of her sites to BV..............Beth would be able to offer better advice than I in this matter.

    Question

    Hi once again, David,

You say I should point my DNS to BV. Not sure what you mean by this. Can you explain more in detail.

    Thanks,

    Cool Re: Importing a page

    Hi David,

Thanks, I watched it. Did a Whois search and learned that my host (registrar) does not have my email in there, but only my name as administrative contact. So I will call them and tell them to put in my email (which they already know) and then have to unlock the domain name. I bought the domain name from Yahoo and they originally locked it. But it was transferred then to Stores Online so maybe they can unlock it. Hope they cooperate as I know they will not like what I am doing. Think I'll also check with Bethers as she went through this, too, with Stores.

Thanks a mil for all of your help.

    Cheers,

    Eileen
