Default website builder for Toaquims.com

Templates - I built a template and saved it as instructed to <File, Save as Template. Now I want to create other pages with that same layout, but when I click on <File, <New Page, <From Template, I get a fatal error saying "BV has encountered a problem and needs to close." I don't get a chance to find the saved template file.

What am I missing?

Frank

Okay it works for me

After you have created your page and saved it as template

You need to open a new blank page, and then go to file and select New from Template ... then the templates will appear, you choose the template ... press okay, and then it asks for a file name, you give it the name of the page you are going to make, and it will appear for you to work on ....

Try that and see if it all works for you ....

Nothing coming to mind, unless you didn't save it correctly to begin with ... are you able to access the page you designed by just opening it directly??

A folder is created within your Blue Voda Files, within Your MY DOCUMENTS, by the given name that you chose when you initially saved it as template. So have a look and see if you can find a file folder by that name, in that location, and if so, open it and look and see if there is a .bvp file in there ...

If so, choose to open that .bvp as you normally would open any file with the blue voda web builder ...

The template files are saved as .wwb files. Shoud they be .bvd? They were saved automatically in Documents\Frank's Documents\BlueVoda\Templates. I cannot tell if the program is looking in that file or another one when I try to open the template because I get the fatal error as soon as I click on New from Template.

Frank

You can simply create a master template and ensure the navigation buttons are locked and any other items that are not going to change and then just use the "save as" and give it a new name such as "products" or "contacts". Make sure they are saved as BV files and in lower case.

Good luck!

Danny

Thanks Navel ... I was assuming he built the template himself in blue voda as I do, and I merely save mine as a .bvp file ...

this .wwb file is what he is having difficulty accessing ... any help for that problem???

thanks

I'm afraid not. It is NOT the templates he is having issues with but BV's function (also normally accessible as ctrl + F) that allowes opening the templates folder and looking for a template. Collector's info has the same problem.

Unless the templates folder is, for some reason, NOT created during BV installation, i can only suppose that there is a conflict in the system registry between BV and some other piece of software.

Anyway, if no real solution to the problem is found, he can simply create a template page, save it as simple .bvp file, and then create others opening and "Saving as" this page.

Naval

That is what I ended up doing in the beginning as I too had problems with saving as a template. I just started using the "save as" function which worked well.
