Default replacing pages?

I've decided to completely change my site design/style and have begun building pages in a new folder. I've read up on how to unpublish the pages I no longer need, but am wondering if I publish the new pages with the same names as the old design will they over-ride the old since they are in a different folder?

or do I need to move the new pages to the original folder to publish and over-ride?

OK, hope this makes sense...I've confused myself!

Yes the new design will over write your old design if you are using the same file names.

They will over write if they are in the same folder. If they are in a different folder you will have (i.e.) two index files.
This will not cause any problems other than possible confusion if you open the wrong folder.
I have at least 25 folders inside of my BV folder. There are 12 different index files.
When publishing to the public_html folder they will over write.
Any images that are in the public_html folder will remain there unless your new images have the same names and then they will over write.
