    Default How to name images?

How to properly name pictures and images, so that they'll be easily searchable?

    HTML?!

(At the moment my pix, in "generated html" read as, ie.: "bv01064.png".

I have an idea what to do - but I'd still appreciate the corrrect instruction.

    Thanks,

    Gabor

    Hi Gabor

I'll wait for other feedback as well.

But for me as I sell office products. I might name them something like this.

    a4_paper.gif
    dymo_label_printer.gif
    ink_jet_cartridges.gif

This way '''hopefully''' search engines pick them up.

    regards

    Darren

    Thanks, Darren.

At this stage, this method is what I'd like to learn (courtesy of Chris/Collectors-info from the other thread):

The SE's certainly see images & should be name well & correctly with a good reference on the alt tag. (I often search by image).
    IE:<img src="Rowing-boat.jpg " alt="Blue 4 meter rowing boat">
    & not,
    <img src="boat1.jpg" alt="boat1(100x125)tn">
I'd like to apply this approach to my case - but I'm gonna have to rename the images first - at the root folder or in cPanel...
(The alternate text is already in place.)

Yes you are spot on. When you insert the image, double click it to also add some alternative text. When you publish, the html code is automatically generated.

Using keywords in both the image file and the alternative text is good for search engines results.

I always used the name in alt tex before and in anytime figurines theres about a dozen with names as well and those images can be found when you search images thats why on the new site is being done that way. The next time I redo the other sites it will also be one with names of the images.

So, how do EYE (after all it's EYE, who started the thread... )
    go about it?

Where do I change the namings?
Can I do it right on the page or am I gonna have to re-import after the name cange?

Why are my published-up pix in cPanel .png?

Is, after all done, the "generated html" of any significance?

You can change the name in where you have your pictures stored in a folder, just right click on that picture you should have a drop down box open up just look where its say rename. When it is done you will have to reinsert the picture where you have it on the page because when you reopen that page it may say image not found, and you can leave it as a png image unless you fell more comfortable as a giff or jpeg that you can do with a pix resizer.
