Default How to set up a second website using bluevoda

I have successfully published my first website with the help of blue voda and many on this forum. Now I want to publish a second, separate and distinct website. I have set up the domain add on successfully. Now when I open up bluevoda, I open up a blank page and start designing the page. I am confused a bit bec I understand that the first page of the new website must be named "index" just like the first page of the initial website I made. Since there is already an "index" page saved, how do I differentiate the two? Thanks

Second question... if I want to have the visitor to my website go from page one to two to three etc and lets say I have an area that says "click here to continue" at the bottom of the page, how do I name the pages and link them so they follow from one to the next? If there is a distinct tutorial that goes over this please let me know bec I have been over most of them and don't seem to find it. Thanks again

    Hi ..

First question .. create in your MYDOCUMENTS/BLUEVODA a folder by the name of your new domain .. store all relevant files and material in here .. when you save your pages (and yes, first page index) you will save them in this folder, this will prevent overwriting of your first domain ..

    publish your files to public_html/addondomain.com

You should always name your pages something that is relevant .. even if you want your pages to go next, next, back, etc.

Once you give your pages a name and publish them, apply the link to that page at the bottom for each of your pages ..

For instance, if your 2nd page is called grapes .. on your first page, at the bottom, type next .. then apply the link to the grapes page to the word next ..

perhaps a simple question...where do I find MYDocuments/bluevoda? Is that in the blue voda program....Or is this part of the main computer itself.. start, explore and then find mydocuments? Also, I am using Vista. Isn't my documents actually "documents" in vista as compared to win xp? Sorry, got a lot of things flying around in my brain right now, and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Yes, find it on your computer and more than likely called documents in vista ..

You will be fine .. it will all come together for you ..

See if you can go to the same place where you have kept your files for your main domain .. make that folder there ..

Ok, did all you suggested and have successfully created documents/bluevoda/newdomainname I then created my first page of the new website and labeled it "index". I then published it as per your rx and blue voda let me know that it was published successfully.

When I tested it by typing in my domain name I got some crazy error message that I have never seen before. Here is the website address http://www.GenewizeMLMsecrets.com The error message is

    Index of /

    Apache/2.2.8 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at genewizemlmsecrets.com Port 80 Any ideas? Thanks

BTW, I checked with the company I purchased the domain from and it is active and working ok.

I decided to take a look at my file manager settings. I don't know what all this means but maybe it makes a difference. I had forgotten that I had set up the genewizemlmsecrets.com folder once before, so there are two of them in the public_html folder.

First under the public_html folder it has the folder cgi-bin- in this folder there is nothing listed

Second - in the genewizemlmsecrets.com folder there is a cgi-bin folder in it with no records in the cgi-bin folder as well

Third in the GeneWizeMLMSecrets.com folder there is the following

    bv01117.png file
    index.html
    pngfix.***
    trans.gif

I don't want to simply start deleting things since I don't know what i am doing but perhaps this info will help you help me get this straightened out. Thanks for your help.

My main domain www.Dralfredsantoro.com is working and is under the etc folder higher up in the directory tree for home/fcjeffi

Publish to the all lower case genewisemlmsecrets.com directory and see what happens. It will do no harm.

You main site should be published to the public_html file. You say that it is published to a etc. folder ????

You are not using your Dr website to it's best capability. The page title should use keywords in describing the content of the page.
"Index" will not help anyone find your site through a search.

Hi Terry was explaining a bit about page "title" - not to be confused with the name of your page - the title is found in page properties instead ..
(you still need to name your page index when you publish)

Glad the fireworks were great, I watched ours on Canada Day and they were great too .. the best I've seen in awhile .. lots of glitter .. lol

Thanks for the suggestions...I will give those a try. If I wanted to add blue voda to another computer, what would be the most effective way to take blue voda from my laptop (vista) and put in on my desktop (xp)? I wasn't sure if m OS version would make a difference with BV. Thanks.

Carbon Terry, well I tried to figure out how to upload to the lower case genewizeMLMsecrets directory, but I can't seem to conceptualize how to do it. I have been simply hitting the publish button and of course, it publishes it to the same location....which isn't working. When I go into the file manager, I simply don't feel comfortable trying things when i don't know what really to do. Any help is appreciated.

about 30 seconds after I hit the send button, a light went off....duh. So I simply typed in the public_html, etc with all lower case and what do you know.. It published and it seems to be working. Do me a favor...could you go to the cite from your computer to make sure it is working? http://www.GenewizeMLMsecrets.com It should start off with a video of me talking about the company. Thanks.

CT, thanks for your help. One thing I have noticed, is once you figure one thing out, another question pops up.. Here goes. On my index page I have a contact form from my autoresponder company getresponse. It works just fine. However, here is what I want to do, and am having trouble figuring out how to do it. I want an interested visitor to give me their name, email, phone number of course, and then I want them to go directly to page 2. HOWEVER, I don't want to give them the link to page 2 until they furnish me their information. I've tried a few different methods with confirmation url's etc, but I would actually prefer NOT to have a confirmation url, simply have the visitor taken to page 2. Any ideas? thanks

Make Page 2 your confirmation URL. As soon as the form is successfully sumitted your confirmation URL would be www.yourwebsite.com/page2.html
That could be somewhat confusing to the customer as they may not understand whether their submission was successful.

Hi Carbon Terry and Lady Eye, back at it again. I am making a third website. I went through all the steps but not publishing . My other two websites have been published, with your help, and are still up and running. My first question...this new website will have the .info ending instead of .com. Is that ok? Or do I need to formulate a .com url?

BTW, when I push the publish button, Blue Voda does confirm that the page was published. When I attempt to find it online, I get the IE error page, can't be found. Here is the link. http://www.GlobalResortsNetworkVacations.info I know, it is a mouthful.. I may eventually get a shorter one and then just forward it to this one, but for the time being this is what I have.

Here is what I have done so far.

    1. Went to the webhosting company and changed the nameservers to NS1.voda25.com and NS2.voda25.com . I have checked and they are changed over.

    2. Went to documents folder in vista and created folder globalresortsnetworkvacations

    3. Have created 3 pages so far index.bvp grnpage2.bvp and grnpage3.bvp and saved them in the folder created in step2.

    4. When I publish them I publish to
    public_html/GlobalResortsNetworkVacations.info

    5. Did I miss something?

Do you have a BlueVoda folder inswide the documents folder. there should be one by default. Not that it matters but it is far easier to keep track of multiple websites if they are in their own folder inside the BlueVoda folder.
Page names: index, grnpage2, grnpage3. Are you adding the .bvp or is the software adding it? You CANNOT add it. If you add it will be index.bvp.bvp beacuse the software will add another .bvp (probably)
So...re-save your index page as " index " nothing else.
Publish and then check to see if it is live.

wow, that may be the problem. I didn't add it on in there. I was focused on creating folders in documents on by c drive and making sure there was a folder in BV that I could save my pages as I produced them, but forgot to go to the subdomain area. I don't remember what I did on each of the lines in that screen.

if the url will be http://www.globalresortsnetworkvacations.info what should I put on each line? I totally forget. I guess I can view the tutorial, but if you know, please let me know.. Thanks.

Also, I remember I asked you this question on the last web build. I have built a contact form from html code in my getresponse auto responder system. I want the visitor to fill out his/her info and then go directly to page 2. I forget where I have to put in the page name for page 2. Is it in the autoresponder html area?

I will tell you, if I don't work with this stuff for a few weeks I forget it. And it really is not that hard! Thanks again for your help.

Ok I set up the subdomain and it was accepted. I uploaded the pages and they were accepted. When I tried the link I now get a 404 error just like last time.

You asked me about 2 folders in the cpanel. Where should I be looking. There is a whole bunch of things I am not sure of.

Carbon Terry, when I open up my file manager, in the public html folder the top folder is the cgi bin folder. However, there is nothing in it when I click on it. Below that are folders for my 2 add on domains, each has in lower case letters and then with first words capitalized. In fact when I click on each of these folders I just get a drop down box that lists the same name of thefolder.

Is your addon folder all lowercase?
This will probably be my last post tonight. I just watched the Cardinals beat the Mets 10-8 in 14 innings
I suggest you delete the folder(s) in your public_html folder that has anything to do with: GlobalResortsNetworkVacations.info
Then do a new addon domain procedure.
I also suggest that when doing anything about your domain name other than furnishing it to outside users that you no longer use uppercase. It can become quite confusing.
when you re-make your addon use all lower case. Then when you publish there will be no doubt about publishing to: public_html/globalresortsnetworkvacations
Inside your public_html folder there are many folders and files. What is the ......EXACT...(type it in your reply exactly as it appears in the public_html folder) name of the folder for this new addon? Is there more than one folder for this addon?
I am confused by this statement "Below that are folders for my 2 add on domains, each has in lower case letters and then with first words capitalized."
Does that mean there are 4 folders, 2 for each addon?

CT, I did what you said... deleted both grn folders in the public_html area of my file manager in cpanel. I then went to the add domain area of cpanel and deleted the grn domain. I then re entered the grn domain with all lower case letters and then when I published it I made sure that grn was all in lower case. Presto! It worked.

Now my last question to have my next page working is that I need to have the visitor go to page 2 AFTER he/she puts in their name, email, phone number. I remember you telling me it had something to do with the confirmation message. Would that be in my autoresponder (get response). So for example would the url in that confirmation url be http://www.globalresortsnetworkvacat.../grnpage2.html CT, lets see if I am actually learning here. I hope I am at least close! Thanks for your help.

CT, it's working now. It wasn't in the autoresponder. I checked my Genewize acct (http://www.DNAGroundFloor.com) and looked into the html code. I found two lines that indicated a confirmation page. So I simply copied and pasted the lines, changed to the correct url for page 2 of my grn site and bingo, it worked. Yippe!!! Thanks for help while also helping me learn. Hopefully, I can help others with their questions eventually. BTW, anyone who is looking for new technology in the nutrition field needs to take a look at the link above. Unbelievable advancement.

One last thing to do, technically speaking. I have to get my merchant acct working on page 2. I will call the credit card processing company to figure out if I have the correct html codes. Your help has been extremely appreciated. Thanks again. Dr Al

You are using the BV form builder I suppose? If yes, You will need to make and publish an error and success page. Your success (success.html) page is where the visitor goes after sending the form page. That page can contain any info that you want but unless you change the form field it must be named "success"
This is my success page. The name and extension are different because I use NavalDesigns form but you can get the idea. This page could say anything.

Hey Carbon Terry and anyone else out there. Since my last post I have effectively added a new subdomain for a third website with different content. All is going well with it.

Today I decided to add another subdomain for yet another website with slightly different content. I followed all my other websites. Making sure the new domain name was purchased and its name servers were ns1.voda25.com and ns2. My one and only page is titled index.bvp. I went into cpanel and created a new subdomain. the name is grnsponsoringsecrets.com When I created the content of the page and uploaded it to the public_html location blue voda noted that is was done successfully. However when i attempted to put the url in my IE address bar I get the following error message

Your search - grnsponsoringsecrets.com - did not match any documents.

I have gone over each step, twice. I even deleted the subdomain and re did it to be sure. Still nothing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

public_html/grnsponsoringsecrets.com is where I am publishing it to.

ns1.voda25.com and ns2.voda25.com are the name servers.

I am not sure how I added the index file because I originally created the file in another folder by mistake. I then copied it to the grnsponsoringsecrets folder and had to change its name. I may have put index.bvp now that I think about it.

When I open up the folder it says index.bvp. I went ahead and saved it as index and let BV put the bvp onto it. I then allowed it to replace the original file just to make sure. I then re published it and checked online. still same issue. Perhaps it is something in the cpanel behind the scenes. I know last time that was where the problem was. any thoughts?

Can I make the assumption that since BV publishes successfully that the issue is not with the webhosting and probably something I did in BV?

Is the Domain name hosted with VodaHost or is it at another place and pointed to VH?

I purchased the domain name from yourpowerhost.com (go ***** reseller). I went into their control panel and changed the nameservers to ns1 and ns2.

Hey Carbon Terry, I reviewed your posts to me a few months ago and I decided to repeat them. I went to yourpowerhost and made sure the spelling was correct with the webaddress. I made sure the name servers were changed properly. Then i went to cpanel in BV and the public_html folder and deleted the grnsponsoringsecrets file and deleted it. I then went to the subdomain area and deleted the same named subdomain. Once that was completed I started over again. Re creating the new subdomain, etc. I republished the webpage and still ended up getting the same results . Any ideas?

How long ago did you point the domain name to VH from the reseller. That may be the issue.
