How do I FTP my files to my Public_html directory in Binary Mode? What is Binary Mode? Thanks

Binary consists of on, off, yes, no etc
its actually 1 and 0
but you dont have to worry about it.

Change the settings on your ftp client to load binary mode instead of asci. Since I dont know what you are using, I cant tell you but it should be in the help file of whatever you are using.

I'm trying to upload www.amember.com 's membership script, and they tell me to FTP there files in my public_html folder in binary mode... How do I do this with Blue_FTP?

Blue FTP is a convenience tool fitting for only small files, not like the script you are mentioning. You would save yourself a lot of grief using the UPLOAD function in FILE MANAGER in your Account Control Panel.

I asked exactly the same question for the same reason in early 2006 and was told not to worry about it as BV FTP will handle it.........

I'm in my cPanel file manager... How do I upload the file in binary mode. This is a requirement for this file or it wont work correctly.

Blue Ftp will not allow you to change these settings. I didnt open cpanel, but I dont believe you can change the UPLOAD MODE there either. Its for standard uploading. You need to use a FULL ftp client such as cute ftp, ws_ftp, filezilla or any number of ones out there that allow you to change the upload settings of how the data is transmitted so that the packets are delivered to the server properly.

With that said.. in most cases blue ftp would work ok, or even cpanel file manager. However if its required..then i suggest you do a search for ftp clients or type in one of those i gave you. Personally i like filezilla and its free open source software.
