Pse. forgive my ignorance but (1) what precisely is a template?

(2) Is a template essential and why? Many thanks.

A Template is not Essential but it can and will save a lot of time and effort if you are considering a website with more than say 10 pages.

If you create a page or a header then you can save it as a template or master copy, and then use that master to create the rest of your pages.

How do u save a page to be a template?

go to file (top left of your page) look for - save as template & save
