Question Hello ... and Help !!!

    Hello Everybody:

I am new to building web sites. I started by watching the tutorials (BTW, it would be nice if the tutorials instructed not not only "how to do it" but also "when to use it", as there are different ways to do similar things). Then I organized my files, resized my pictures to the same size, etc.

The home page I am trying to design would be fine if:
    1) I could make tables with cells split or merged "vertically". BV allows me to do it "horizontally" only.
    2) I could add scrollbars to some levels of Menu Bar. Long lists of items are truncated if the length of the page is too short or are shown complete by using the page's scrollbar when the page is long enough. In this case, the viewer may not be aware that the list continues below. The presence of the scrollbar in the menu list does that job. Just in case, I have not yet published any page. The lack of scrollbars in the menus was seen in Preview mode.

Is it possible to do those things within BV?

Thanks in advance for your support.

I can't really help with specifics of BV as I don't use it, but as far as not being able to merge vertically make sure you are not trying to merge two cells where one has been merged horizontally.

That is, if you are trying to merge something like

    ______
    | 1 | 2|
    |__|__|
    | . 3 . |
    |__ __|

If you are trying to merge 1 and 3, it can't be done.

So either something like the case above might be happening or BV might just not have the functionality to merge vertically (or you may have overlooked how.. I don't know)

First of all you need to learn the forum rules. This is the chat area, fun and chit chat in here. You need to use the area appropriate for the question you have. You can use the search feature at the top of the forum page. Your post should be in here. You can also go to here for some more help.
Yo will get quicker answers in those locations.

    Thanks SAman for the correction.
Is there a way to move a thread to another place?
Or should I forget this thread and start a new one in the right place?

I am not trying to merge cells the way you mention. I want spilt or merge (the result should be the same) vertically, with columns with single cells.

I moved it for you...and you could merge one two and three.. or you can delete three and split or add a row afterwards

Yes you can merge 1, 2 and 3, but you cannot merge 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 which would make L (or mirrored version of L) shaped cells which isn't possible.

I was just checking to see if this was being attempted as it would make sense that BV wouldn't give the option to do so. But germansin say's this isn't the case so I haven't a clue why there isn't the option to do so. Perhaps someone who uses BV can confirm that the functionality exists in BV to merge (or split) vertically

    Hi Karen & Watdaflip

    Thanks for your help

Meantime, I discovered that I do not need to split the cell vertically as I can write several lines within a cell, each line linked to a different page. Actually, that is was what I was looking for, thinking that I had to make links related to the whole cell.

Being here, how do I insert an image in a cell? (I mean, within BV)

Right click on the table click cell properties, in the image area click browse and find your image click open and then ok.
