I have two domains (1) wealthypoet.com and (2) mypalpalin.com. I don't know what I did, something in publishing revised files I think, and now wealthypoet files are gone and the domain name answers to mypalpalin.

They each answer to their own.. you just published the second domains files to the first. Republsih your wealthy poet, to public_html/
Then republish mypalpalin to public_html/mypalpalin/
The dns is resolving correctly.

When I try to republish mypalpalin files I get error 550-can't change directory to mypalpalin - no such directory exists
check your server number, as sometimes it changes itself..........all 3 must be correct as per welcome email

When I am able to add mypalpalin to public_html it also adds it to public_html of the original site (wealthypoet.com). I have the feeling I need to delete some files somewhere but I'm afraid I don't know which or where.
Should be only one public_html folder in your c-panel (belonging to your main site) you add a folder to house your new site to it. When you publish to the add-on you will publish (as Ladyeye said) to public_html/mypalpalin.com
Best description of problem is that when I change public_html to public_html/mypalpalin in order to publish, the original public_html file name changes too. If I delete that mypalpalin extension, it automatically gets deleted from the public_html/mypalpalin file where it needs to stay! As a result, no matter what I do I get the mypalpalin home page (index file) everytime.
I've tried all the suggestions so far.
Somehow you published your palin index on your other site, just go back and republish the other index page to your public_html and your home page to that site will be fine. Watch the videos again on adding a Add-on domain to see where it went wrong and pay close attention to which file you publish your pages to.
I think you're right about what happened. Problem is, when I republish original home page to public_html, the palin page somehow drops its palin extension, becomes the public_html index and overrides the original!
Delete it from your public_html and republish the right index, before you republish your home page click File/Save As and save i as index just to be sure.
Ed, just to be clear ... delete the palin index file from public_html using the file manager in the control panel? Then how do I get it back? Sorry I'm so stupid about this. Thanks for your patience.
Correct.
All your pages are saved in your BV folder, so you are just deleteing the one off the server that should not be there and replacing it with the right one. Then once you get your add-on straightened out you can republish that one to that domain.
I don't believe it. I did what you said. Deleted palin index file using file manager in control panel. Plus I deleted it from the open a file box in the BlueVoda program. No palin index file anywhere. Rebooted computer. Keyed in wealthypoet.com. Palin home page is still there! I can't get to wealthypoet (main home page) from anywhere. Palin home page always pops up.
I dont think you should delete anything just goto Add-On Domain and redirect your domain name.
Try the above out first before deleting.
