Can anyone tell me how I can add an animated .gif that I've made so that it will appear under my name in the forums. Thanks.

Go into the CP and upload it as an avatar.
By CP, I guess you mean the CPanel. I'm still designing my pages and haven't yet opened a VodaHost account. Any way to do it before then?
No you said in the forum, at the top of the page is a bar with links on it the one on the left is user cp, click on it and edit the avatar.
If you meant something other than this or similar forums, disregard.
No, that's what I meant. Done. Thanks.
YW but something isn't quite right with it. If the red lights are supposed to blink they don't.
Maybe I used the wrong picture. Let's try again.
Nope. It still doesn't blink. But it blinks when I preview the page in BV. What could be wrong?
Not sure how to fix that, if Karen Mac pops in she could tell you whats up, along with many others here that I don't know yet.
Thanks. I'll wait and see.
Can anyone tell me why my animation doesn't animate? I made it with the free program UnFREEz and it worked fine in a previewed page in BV. When I tried to crop the animated image, it wouldn't animate. I had to crop the individual images that made up the animation, reload them into Unfreez, and then it worked again okay. Does BV crop the image when it adds it to my name as an avatar? Could that be why this same image is animated in a previewed page but not as an avatar under my name?
My frog doesnt animate here either. NOt sure why. Try hosting it at photobucket and then just use the URL and see if that fixes it.
Forum just doesnt like some of them.

I uploaded into Photobucket as you said, even changed the .gif, but it still doesn't animate. I guess that's it. Thanks for your help.
Ok redone, my fault on the dimming used a gif and a jpg doooh.
but the best way is to make you image and save as gif this way you won't lose any coloring.
we use animating software which is not free but if you do your images in gif to start with then you should have no problem with the site you use.
Great. But you have to tell me how I can get my avatar here to blink, like you got it to blink. It's the same thing with another avatar (the one I really want to use) here. It blinks on my previewed page but not here as an avatar.
Also, you seem to have resolved the color problem by saying that I have to use a "non-free" animating software that makes the image a gif right off the bat. So I'll have to stick with my "recoloring" technique, for now. But if that is the answer, then I'll add that to the end of the other thread, to finalize that matter.
But you still have to tell me here, how I get my avatar to blink.
ok right click mine and save to your pc then go into your cp here on the forum and upload the same image using the browse button then save.
if you have a gif version of your other image post it here and we will see what we can do.
the same can be done in the free site you found as long as the image is made as a gif to start not a converted jpg. starting as a gif will keep the color and structure you started with.
So if your making a text in bv then screenshot it make shaw you save as a gif file. and any changes are saved as gif
So here's the one I want to use. The lights should turn red, one by one, and then back again. That is, the red light should in the following lights: 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2 as a continuous loop, with the other lights being white, so it looks like one light is lighting up from left to right and then from right to left, over and over again.
But you still haven't told me how you got it to blink. There are other people who are having the same problem. It would be nice to know why uploading it as an avatar here makes it not blink.
Ok here is the result
this is made up of five images
Once you have made your images you can run them though a animating program. but be warned that their might be color lose or change and pixel change if using jpg or png as your animation will be in gif format.
I don't think you understand. I already made the five images, loaded them into an animation program, and got an animation that works on my previewed pages in BV. My problem that caused me to start this thread was that when I took my working animation and tried to upload it here as an avatar next to my name, it wouldn't blink. The picture that is next to my name is an animation program made up of five separate images. It blinks fine on my priviewed page but not here as an avatar.
I will copy the one you made and upload that as my avatar here, if that's okay with you.
