Ok, so I have my size as 800 x 600. Is that the most common size? Also, how do I properly adjust the size of the template image I put on my page. I want to make sure the content I am adding is in the appropriate place.

Click on Layout, then Guide Settings. You can then set the size to 800 x 600, and these guidelines will appear on the BV page so you can arrange your content to fit.
