    Question URL question

I have seen a similar post in the past but I am unable to find it again.

    For example; I have a page www.aguycanbeach.com/cdad/login.html
What I want to know is what is the difference between this and www.cdad.aguycanbeach.com/login.html

I know that the /cdad indicates the "cdad" folder.

Depending on the reply I get and if I would want my URL to look this way "
www.cdad.aguycanbeach.com/login.html"; what would I need to do?

Youd make it a SUBDOMAIN and not a folder.

making it a subdomain means that I would have to register & pay for the domain name (sub-domain name)?

as a subdomain I would still be able to password protect the files as in the folder I presently have, no?

Subdomain is the free one, add on is the one that costs money. You make the subdomain with your cPanel. Because the subdomain name is attached to your unique original domain name, the sub domain can be named anything you like; it needn't be unique.

Thanks Tom, is there a tutorisl on sub-domains anywhere other than in c-panel(a bit limited) itself?

Not that I know of; try googling it. However, the tutorial will tell you how to get your subdomain up. The only error on the tutorial is where it says you can upload your files to the new subdomain folder. While true, with Blue Voda you must publish, not upload. So it's just like publishing a page to your original site only you publish to public_html/subdomainname/
