If you existing website is free from Flash, is less than 25 images, and does not have auto-run scripts on it, you will need to apply a "device detection" script to turn off Java so devices (cell phones, P D A's, etc.) can render the base code without conflict.
If your site is not 'mobi-ready' you will need to construct a side-site and install a customized detection script to re-direct traffic to a more suitably formatted website.
Keep in mind that although PHP is both browser and SE friendly, it is not easily navigable for device visitors without Java enabled. You will need someone familiar with the MOBI environment to properly configure script settings and to clean up your PHP site.
* Be careful who you partner with to implement your MOBI site .... a lot of people talk the talk, but are still drooling and crawling rather than being able to walk the walk! They can take your money and only later will you find out they dug a hole for you.
