Default Problems with shapes & Pics

Hi all.
I keep getting a re-accuring problem with shapes on my site.
From time to time a random shape will show in a different color to what it should be. I know that I can re-publish the page to correct it but I need to know how to stop it from happening all together as it looks
un-professional.

Please compare this page (faulty - the box at the bottom with the thumbnail pics in it should be grey, not black) http://www.citylifelive.co.uk/cambridge.html

to this one (correct - nice grey box)
http://www.citylifelive.co.uk/bristol.html

Also, random pics will show as other pics, but I do not have an example to show you guys.

Can any1 help me fix this problem

Thanks

I think this is a copying and pasting issue.

If you insert a shape onto a page and modify it do not copy and paste this image and re-modify because you'll mess up the first one.

Only copy and paste if they are gonna be identical. If not insert new shapes and modify those accordingly.

Thanks DarrenC.
Can you not see the black box on the bottom of this page?
http://www.citylifelive.co.uk/cambridge.html

And I think you may be wrong about the copy & paste thing as this shape is the same on all pages. (it was not re-modified after pasting)

Thanks

I can see a black rectangle with 6 images on it?

Is that what you are reffering to?

If you CLONE a page, Or copy a page and then RESIZE any of the shapes etc, this will occur. Instead go to the shape you want to copy and then paste it over the bad shape, size and then delete the one misbehaving, this make it save as a NEW name when you save it.

Whats happening is its calling the original image and you distorted it by reshaping it.

Yes thats the 1.

I take it this has happened to other people then.
I think this is something the BV designers need to look at.

Any ideas what is happening with the pics when they show a different pic for no reason.

Thanks

It has happened to me, but did take similar advice to Karen's to solve the problem.

Ive seen this happen when my cache was too full. Loading all these images etc, after four or five pages.. doesnt take long to fill up. try closing bv after saving your work, clearing cache and temp files, reopen bv and edit the misbehaving pics and save and see if that doesnt solve the problem.

Be sure your images have unique names for each page, even if it's the same image used on more than one page. When you save and publish a page after modifying an image, that image will be modified for all other pages unless it has a unique name.

Consider that all images and shapes are stored in one place (public_html Directory). These elements are in one big folder...not as individual pages.
That means that an image named bigbluesky.jpg can be published in one page and you can name another image bigbluesky.jpg that is completely different from the first image. Both images are stored in the same place. Ergo, the second image of bigbluesky.jpeg will overwrite the first published image and change the image on the first published page.
Go to Tools/Options/Publish and make sure that you have checked the box to all BV to add the page prefix to the name of the file.
Then.....the first page published might be index_bigbluesky.jpg and the next page could be about_bigbluesky.jpg
See the logic if you think about your files as being in one large directory rather that seperated page by page.
Still, it is best to have a unique name for all images/shapes.
