Cool Re: BlueVoda Version 11.4

Conveyer Belt slideshow

When I put the box on the page you can size it both horizontal and vertically. Once I put photo's in it I can only size it horizontally.

Adjusting the speed doesn't seem to make any difference when I view it in "preview".

Hi guys, I seem to have failed at the first hurdle - When I try to download from the links above, I get 'bad crc' from the unzipped version and 'zip is invalid' from the zipped version.

I'm running Vista Business SP2, Intel 2160 1.8 with 4GB memory.

Please advise

Thank you
John

Congratulations on the update!

After a quick test it seems that a recurring problem I have had the past couple of versions is still present:
Whenever I activate anti-aliasing for a shape it causes the shape to disappear/re-appear randomly with each pageload in Internet Explorer.

For this reason I don't use curves on any boxes (as anti-aliasing is needed for this).
Firefox never displays this problem however as the anti-aliased shapes appear everytime.

Default Re: BlueVoda Version 11.4

two bug I found:

The major one is my "header" page won't open (it's where I have my logo banner, and link menu) then BV freezes and needs ALT CRTL DEL to clear it. It's the most important page I have and I can't get to it. I have over 70 pages, so there might be other pages I have yet opened that may not open. Do I need to remake pages that won't open?!

The second issue with BV 11.4 is it changes the width and color variation of the boarders of shapes. Perhaps this is a fix to BV 10.12 but now we have to manually fix each and every shape's property. with the inability to get the border's thickness to equal the previous shape. In BV 10.12 I have the border width as 1, color black, and anti alias. the image can be seen on all my pages except the home page which is the new boarder using BV 11.4 with width of 2, color is dark gray, and anti alias. As you can tell there is a difference. Making the border width 1 in BV 11.4 is too thin and width of 2 is too thick...

VFRodriguez,

sounds simple, but click refresh in your browser. occasionally the browser decides to load from cache, rather then direct from the source.

sorry if this is insulting, you may have done this, or know this, its a common mistake.

There are only two things I would want changed.

First is an issue with the photo gallery that creates a horizontal spacing between photos once the photo gallery has been uploaded. I believe the version 8 or 9 didn't have this error since the HTML codes were set up differently even though it was the same code. Just remove the fancy zig-zag pattern you created with the letter space, and it will be fine.

The second is that this version now puts all images in its own folder called images. While this is a good thing for some people, I would like my website to be set up the same way as it was before, so instead of removing this feature, you could have an option where people can choose if they want their images in its own folder or not.

Other than that, I think BlueVoda is the best tool to create a great website, so thanks for that.

BV 11.4 is great however I can't seem to open any page that has a menu bar in it. It tries to open the page but then BV freezes and needs to be closed via the task manager.

Installed 11.4 and added a captcha to an existing "contact" form page. Uploaded it.
Captcha image does not show and the Home page (Index.html) and another page of the site have disappeared altogether.
Now when navigating to the home page and the other the browser shows a blank white page with the messgae at the top stating:
Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy.

I have removed the index.html page and any images from the server in Cpanel then gone for a totally clean publish and still get the same message.

Removed the captcha and uploaded the contact page again and it is ok but the two pages that disappeared remain missing.

I've just tried to set up BV 11.4 with the unzipped file but Setup exited.

I got a message from irsetup saying "A sharing violation occurred while accessing an unnamed file".

Makes me feel like a criminal!

I was really looking forward to the new version.

There is a bug in the "photo gallery" that causes a horizontal space to appear between the photos in Internet Explorer. This bug was not present before even though the code was the same, but now the code is set up in a zig-zag pattern by letter spaces that causes this error.

I would also like the option to choose if I want my photos in its own "Images" folder or not since this new version now puts all photos in a folder named "Images".

The fade does work on the Ad Banner rotater, but only with certain pictures. I tried to figure out a pattern (such as certain type of file), but I couldn't figure out anything. If you could help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks and great work on all of the improvements on version 11.

Hi,

I have tried in stalling the file (both zipped nad unzipped version) and both times have had no success. I get the error message: "unable to open output file" and then "could not extract support files--setup will abort." Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm now able to open all files, including those with menu bars. Thanks BV!!!

I discovered another issue. Creating lines. In Firefox they turn into a circle. Perhaps it's a browser issue but I thought others not using FF should know.

Thanks again for giving us more and more!

Thought I'd let you know I figured out my issue. I usually do "changed files only" when I publish because it's faster, but now that I've installed the new version of Voda, I need to do "publish all files" so all the box definitions and such get updated, and then it's fine.

Sounds like the file you downloaded got corrupted. It happens sometimes. Download again and see how you go.
If you still get the problem re-boot Windows in Safe Mode and try installing that way.

If you don't open a page you wont get the full tool bar....open any page (even "new") & the full toolbar comes up. Click 'tools' & you'll see the FTP Manager,

Hi Vodahost. Thanks for all your efforts to develop and release a new, better version of BlueVoda.
Normally I am more than happy to try out a beta version and report bugs. I don't mean to sound harsh or ungrateful, but it is clear from the nature of a lot of the problems with v.11.4 as reported on these forums that it is effectively in alpha stage, not beta stage. As such, it shouldn't really be inflicted upon the general user until major functionality has been achieved.
To release an alpha version seems unfair on the less savvy user and in the long run will cause more headaches for yourselves (wading through a multitude of repetitive (and not) reports) than simply completing the alpha testing properly behind the scenes, and then releasing a beta version for public bug-reporting.
In the meantime, a prudent user will steer well clear from this version until it really is at beta release stage.
Sorry again if this sounds harsh. Your overall work on improving BV really is appreciated.
Thanks, Bill Oo.

Thank you.
Issue resovled. Full tool bar was not appearing immediately after installing. Pages were opened by using the folder icon. But today after restarting, the full tool bar is there.

Love BV Builder. Wish you guys lick with the kinks in 11.4

Would be real nice if BV had the software version number in the head tag for when we look at the source code. We can then see straight away if a member is using the latest version.

Although you can lock a Glass Button and the lock is visible when you click on it, you can still move the button around.

Default Re: BlueVoda 11.4 - issue and Bugs thread

Here is a complete write up of my troubles with BV 11.4

I had a completed site up and running that was created totally in BV10's last incarnation.

I updated to BV 11 and found that all functionality was ok except for two points:
1. When trying to change the style attributes of a hyperlink the program would simply freeze and would have to be forcibly shut down.
2. Captchas on an existing form would not show.

I then updated to BV 11.4.
First of all captchas still dont show but that's the least of the problems.

I opened an existing page in BV 11.4 to again adjust the style of the hyperlinks that form the lefthand nav menu. These are simply text entries that have been hyperlinked to create a simple menu.

I selected the first piece of text and clicked on "Link."
Entered the "Edit Hyperlink" dialogue box and chose the already presest entry I had named "menu."
Clicked Edit Styles and chose the "menu" style and clicked "Edit."
I then adjusted the properties so that:
Linked was dark red bold no underline.
Visited was purple bold no underline.
Active was bright red bold no underline.
Hover was google blue bold no underline.

All the other menu items on the lefthand menu of the site were then checked to see that the hyperlink properties had changed as well and all had changed.

I then published the page fully not using "Change Files Only" but "Publish all files."

The result was that the new page does not appear. Instead the browser displays a completely blank white space with the words "Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy" at the top of the page.

An example of this can be seen at http://www.youracnepro.com/test.html

At the same time another page on the site that had not been touched at all started doing the same thing while all other pages were fine.

An internet search indicated the problem may have been the Statcounter code inserted at the end of the body of the page so this was removed and the complete page uploaded again. All that does is removes the words but the page still displays blank. This can be seen at http://www.youracnepro.com/test2.html

The Weird Fix:
I then went into the Cpanel of my account and opened the broken page in the HTML Editor. I did nothing to the page except to hit the "Save" button and then closed the editor.

After that the page displayed correctly!

The main difference between the two pages is that this code below has been inserted by the WYSIWYG editor in the HEAD section of the page:

<link id="WPRO_STYLESHEET_0" href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/themes/blue/wysiwygpro/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" _wpro_href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/themes/blue/wysiwygpro/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet"><link id="WPRO_STYLESHEET_1" href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/lang/en-us/wysiwygpro/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" _wpro_href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/lang/en-us/wysiwygpro/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet"><link id="WPRO_STYLESHEET_2" href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/core/css/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" _wpro_href="http://74.86.118.26:2082/3rdparty/wysiwygPro/core/css/document.css?v=3.1.0.20080723" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet"></script>

There are other pages on the site that also do not have this code yet display correctly!

Also the style attributes that have been assigned to all the hyperlinks in the lefthand navigation menu on every page do not display as they have been entered into BV 11.4 and remain as they were prior to all of this.

It almost seems as though there is a hidden stylesheet somewhere on the site that BV 11.4 is not accessing and changing as requested. In some cases it simply fails to change the style and in others it causes an error that breaks the page totally.

I have a completely different problem. I used a particular font -Husky Stash - for a logo I created, and used it in the 'logo' and banner successfully. Until now. The font will not populate in the logo.

Cool Re: BlueVoda 11.4 - issue and Bugs thread

Hi, my name is Perry, aka solutions59. I have downloaded and tested your BV website builder, and on a scale of 1 - 10, I can only give it a 5. The reason for this is because there are several aspects of your free website builder, that is in serious need of updating. First, the flash tool only loads swf files. Shouldn't they also be allowed to load flv files? And, the swf files that I load with this just gives me a black screen. Second, I have no idea what your "active X" tool is, or how to use it. I guess it's microsoft tech. And your videos don't explain how to use it either. Third, your "windows", "quicktime", and "real" tools are faulty. I don't know where to get files that end in "rm", "ram", or "mov". As for the "windows media" tool, it loads "wmv" files, but the play is faulty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it won't. And, fourth, and finally your flash tool is seriously outdated. It says to download "macromedia flash player". And when I try to use the tool, it asks for flash version 5.0. The latest flash version is now 10+, and macromedia no longer exists. It was bought out by Adobe years ago. Do you plan to make these needed upgrades to your website builder?

Cool Re: BlueVoda 11.4 - issue and Bugs thread

I'm having a similar problem to the "more than one page freeze". Mine could be related to number of pages open, because I almost always have more than one open when I'm working, but I'll try to do something like select a border to change the color and it will freeze, then I will get the loathsome "we're sorry but we've encountered a problem and need to close" message, whereupon it will crash on me. It just happened to me on two different pages and I lost hours of work, so I was not a happy camper! This didn't happen before I loaded the new version.

Hello - I was having the same problem. Discovered I had my "publish" window set to "publish changed filels only." The first time you save a page from the "old" to "new" Voda, you need to do "publish all files" and that should fix it. If it doesn't, try opening "properties" on the missing objects and checking "anti-alias" - that seemed to work, too.

Default what's "categories" in the page properties?!

Hello all,

Can someone explain to us the new categories area in the meta tag section of page properties? How or why would one use it? Is it helpful for SEO?

I have a pet services business. would I create a few different categories such as dog training, pet sitting, walking, prices, and so forth as long as they are related and relevant to my site? Or should each page be a different unique category?

Thanks in advance!

Wink Re: BlueVoda 11.4 - issue and Bugs thread

When I use text art, images and text show up on the wrong pages when I publish to internet- they have jumped by themselves. I agree with the post that it is not fair to expect the users to go through a process of creating a website, then finding out that the software is really not ready to publish the sites correctly. though i do also agree that bluvoda is a great service. I really need help with this problem and no one has been able to tell me what is going on.

V.11.4 random page transitions freeze in I.E 8.

After cloning a page and publishing background, shape and menu and other elements don't show. You have to go back and re-edit them and publish again.

Hope this helps

I've used BV for several years and really like it. I recently downloaded the most recent version and have used that for several weeks. Just today, when I tried to open BV - I received the following error message and could not open BV:

X c:\ Program Files\ BlueVoda Website Builder\ BlueVoda.exe is not a valid Win32 application

Please help.

I am having same problem. Pages I created in BV 10 worked fine til I edited them in 11.4 Now no images appear in Firefox or IE. Cleared cache and refreshed repeatedly but no images, even though images all loaded in control panel folder.

I even completely reconstructed the pages and republished, but no images.
Hope somebody finds answer soon. My sites are hijacked!

Delete all your images that are not showing in your .bvp webpage and re-populate them.....then republish.

I finally found the problem that was causing the above to occur.
For some reason the two pages that I was having trouble with had the Google webmaster tools tracking code corrupted when they were saved by the later version of BlueVoda.

So if this happens to you it is simply a matter of going into the page properties, deleting the existing code and re-inserting a fresh copy of the tracking code. When you re-publish be sure to publish all files to force a fresh install of everything on the page and all will be well.

The related problems with the menu attributes refusing to change etc. all went away once the fresh code was inserted.

I just entered something into that field on one of my sites. Then I opened a "before" and "after" by right clicking on "view source." Absolutely nothing was changed!
I don't think it has any effect whatsoever with reagrds on page optimization.

Hello Everyone
Has anyone else had a problem publishing pages with BV 11.4. I have published pages and all seems to be going fine in the publish bar, then its freezes about half way though and after a short while it carries on and finishes, but when you view the page, the changes have not been published. It turn out I have to publish each page twice to actually get it on my site www.naturistalgarve.com

Hi
I have just installed windows 7 on my laptop and had to download BV again. Now I find that All of the logo boxes on my pages which contain text (forte font ) and believe me there are literally hundreds, have disappeared and any other text which uses the forte font has changed to another font therefore messing the formatting. I use the logo boxes as I can have more flexibility with the formatting and then I make the box transparent leaving just the text. It looks as though the forte font has disappeared out of the list. I cannot change all the fonts on all the pages as it will take me months so I need some help please.

Thanks

You are not the only one. You have to copy and repopulate your BlueVoda Folder and you will also have to repopulate your webpages as the link to all the images has to be updated.

Yikes! I won't be downloading BV11.4 with all those bugs. BV10 was 100% for me from the beginning - I like it that way. Lets hope, just like the vista dilemma, we jump to something bigger and better.
