Thread: making main page smaller when viewed online

Hi everyone,
In building my website i noticed that it is large online, only the top maybe 3 inches shows and then you need to scroll down. Is there a way to make the web page smaller so most of the page is visible straight away?

Make everything smaller, reduce your font size, reduce your image size perhaps,

Post a link to your site so we can see it!!

Set your page properties to 980 wide by 800 long and build your site within those boundaries. A link to your site would help so we could see what you have done.

Why does it come up like this?
If you click on the "about us" tab the page that i wish to be the home page comes up but on my computer it comes up very slowly. Is this because of the size of the image i am using or should that matter at all?

Other tabs on the page are different looks of the same website.

You home page should be named index only, all in lower case letters. This is the 1st page that is looked for by all the SE's when looking at a site.
Pages kb's is very important & images are one of the offenders of slow loading pages. http://www.sturgeonsound.ca/images/z...for%20mark.jpg is around the 1,411.78 kB & the whole page should be aimed at around 200kb to please all visitors. This might help.

Another question; why is there a scrollbar at the bottom of the page? I don't want to scroll left to right and it does not seem to matter if I build the page 1500 wide or 400 wide on my PC monitor the aforementioned scrollbar appears.

Because you have pulled the background image out to 1,990px wide. If you want to use this type of background? Use one off a site like this or similar, & place the image in the area for background images.

Here's a new one for you. I drag and drop the youtube icon onto the page, save the page, publish and the youtube icon disappears. Any idea why. It does not seem to matter if i have the url i want or not. Either way the icon is not on the website.

...i just tried it & it works fine?? Check what you have in the publish box when it opens......eg, correct domain name, "publish all files" etc.

The publish box is correct, any other change i make and publsih works, and still i drag and drop the youtube icon and nothing!!
