Thread: go back browser button

Hello, I have noticed recently that while on my website, every time I click the go back button of the browser, I am getting out of my website. I had not noticed this before, I am using google chrome. Can someone please tell me what to do to avoid this?

I have just realised that it is with my newly created php pages that this problem is prevailing and not with my html pages. How can I correct this please??

please read my second post, it has nothing to do with google chrome, my php pages are doing it but not the html ones

It has to do with the contact pages only and, generally speaking, with the ones that have a form and it is normal. Most browsers will ask you to re-send the data. It is normal.

Give the user choice.
You could use

on all your pages if you want.
Make sure your internal links don't
have target set as _blank.

@wysiwyg4: the user is not saying he doesn't know how to create a back button, he says his browser Back button doesn't work.

The browser Back button and the one you posted do the same thing.

And, it is not necessary to add code: add an Advanced Button, make it On Click, Onclick action: Go to the previous page.

no it is non of the above, please I have a problem and i need assistance urgently.
a php page will NOT go back to an html page.
this is happening with google chrome but not with internet explorer, to get rid of google chrome on my computer is not a solution because google chrome is a fantastic browser and more and more people are using it, the solution is how to make my site run smoothly on Google chrome as well.

example on google chrome
1)please go to www.alexanderhitek.com which is an html page
2)than choose eyewear collection from menu on left which is a php page
3) then hit browser go back button and instead of going back to index you get thrown out of the site

works fine in Opera, works fine in I.E.. therefore I deduct this IS an issue with Google Chrome... as are many other issues....

What do you want us to say?

if that is the case then shall i find a way to contact and report to google about this?

If you do have to contact Google,
in Chrome, click "Control the current page" and
click on report the bug.

I don't think though it's Chrome problem.

My website works fine in Chrome.

ok does your website switch from html to php pages and back? and have you used BV to make your site?

But my problem is still not solved, can anybody help please?
if not I have to re do all my pages back to html and find other solutions and it is alot of work

First of all, it seems like your home page has been hacked.
If you look ath the page source code, there are approx 90 links to various sites.

1. Connect with FTP
2. Search and delete ALL unknown to you files on the site
3. Canghe your password
4. Republish the home page

i have looked and i do not see any hacking

Do you mean that it was you that actually placed there those 90 links???

You are right, I have looked at the source code on index page, and although i do not know to write html code,and at the end of source code there are many sites that have nothing to do with us. but i cannot find them when i go on ftp, how else can i get rid of them?

tha is the first thing i did, when i go with ftp i cannot find any of these links, or if they are in my public directory i dont know where to locate them , they are not with the rest of my pages

I have registered about 5 domain names and 2 websites here, now I have a problem, if somebody can seriously help me then great, but please dont give me blaze answers, i am not a computer expert but then again VH accalims that you dont have to be to join

The issue is that, somehow (we can't know how) a hacker has uploaded one or more malicious files on your site. Those files re-writes the home page, adding these links (which will also cause Google to ban you).

The ONLY solution you have is to spot and delete this file ( s ). Search through FTP to see the files, one by one, and delete ANY file that you don't recognize, especially files with .php extension.

If you only have sites created with BV, you can ask for an account reset and then re-publish the sites. And, as mentioned, change password!

At the moment, after republishing, your home page results clean.

yes everything i have is with BV and voda host.
I submitted a support ticket and my password was changed and malicious code which could NOT be found in my public html is gone after re publishing my index.

I have learnt something new now to once in a while check my source, thanks!!

If it works with all other browsers, seems logical to me that the issue lies with Chrome.

I however tested more of your pages, and seems that the issue does NOT exist for internal pages, that is if you go in a html page then to a php one and so on, the Back button works fine. The issue seems to only exist with your "index" page.

I didn't have time to analyze your home page code or chrome's peculiarities, sorry.

is there some kind of code i need to put in the index page? i did another website for a friend with BV and VH, and the same is happening to her website also, when you find time please help ok? :)

I have contacted google chrome and reported my problem. so hopefully either Google or some God blessed soul from this forum will help me. thanks

I have spoken to somebody at Google. They are aware of the back button issue not working correctly on some sites and they are looking into it.

I have also been told that you could try the latest version (still in Beta Mode)
