    Default Keywords and Key Phrases

    Hi all,
    when putting keywords into the properties section of a page, it says that we must separate words with a comma. I am a bit unclear however as to how we put in key phrases.
    For example - suppose my site is about cycle repairs. Do I type in cycle,repairs,
    or can I type the whole phrase directly as in - cycle repairs, or do I need to add an underscore so it becomes - cycle_repairs,
    Thanks

    Hi all,
    I checked out the link about how SEO works in Google as it appears that keywords and key phrases are no longer the most important thing. My problem is that I am still a novice and don't know about html. I figure I have a good handle on Blue Voda at this stage, and the Google advice seems to be aimed at people who know how html works.
    So what does filling out the meta tags part of the properties page in blue voda mean now?
    Unfortunately that brings me back to my original question.
    When I'm filling out that section can I write phrases, and if I can - how do I do it? If I want to write cycle repairs do I type cyclerepairs, cycle repairs, or cycle_repairs, with the comma in between.
    I realise my questions may appear .... I don't know.... but I'd like to get it right rather than use trial and error, and I do know that some of you guys know.

    "cycle repairs" would be correct as a keyword phrase.
    Be advised that any keywords or keyword phrases entered in your meta tags must also be in the text of your page. There is no use in entering a keyword that is not in text on your page.
    Generally, 25 keywords and/or keyword phrases is the maximum in the meta tags.
    Ideally, you want to optimize for 1 or 2 keywords per page.

    Question Re: Keywords and Key Phrases

    Excellent info that I wanted to know about...

    So the best way to appear on Google would be to have the same words in the metatags and on the same page???

    Cheers

    Correct Alberto !!
    The keywords on your page should also appear in your H tags.
    Don't know about H tags? Google it !!!!!!!
    H tags can greatly effect your page placement on Google.

    Smile Re: Keywords and Key Phrases

    Great tip CarbonTerry

    I have changes just one in my main page and it's come out first on google... Amazing... one thing though... so as we style a word as h1 we cannot change the type at all right? color, bold, size, etc...

    It has to remain as it is set by style h1 correct?

    Cheers

    I'm not sure using BV11.
    With BV10 I can insert this code:
    <style>
    h1 {font-size:
    20px;color:#000000;font-family:arial;font-style:bold;display:inline;}
    h2 {font-size:
    14px;color:# 000000;font-family: arial;font-style:bold;display:inline;}
    h3 {font-size:
    11px;color:# 000000;font-family: arial;font-style:bold;display:inline}
    h4 {font-size:
    11px;color:# 000000;font-family: arial;font-style:bold;display:inline}
    h5 {font-size:
    11px;color:# 000000;font-family: arial;font-style:bold;display:inline}
    h6 {font-size:
    10px;color:# 000000;font-family: arial;font-style:bold;display:inline}
    </style>

    in the "Between Head" tag to set whatever font size I want to use.
    You can change/delete the code to suit your needs.
    I still have to manually insert the " <h1> </h1> in the text html.

    Thanks for that Carbon Terry. I was putting lots of metatags on every page, rather than one or two on every page. I'll give your way a try.

    Google tends to ignore meta tags. Page content is "King".
    Your main keyword should be in your page title as the 1st or 2nd word.
    Use your keyword several times in the page.
    Your main keyword should be included in your <h1>
    There should be apprx 300 words of content.
    Your Content should be understandable and not just a group of keywords.
    You page should be oriented to human users.
    It's quite a juggling act to make your content work for humans and robots.
